As Nick says.

The biggest worry for me is it threatens to derail a lot of the good work in a CCFC sense that Steve has done in keeping disparate groups together. We can discuss the politics on the off-topic and, I think it's safe to say where I nail my political colours but in a CCFC sense, I don't quite understand why this all flaring up happens... now.

And not when he took over as chair of the Trust.

Or when other things have happened in the CCFC soap opera.

I'd suggest it opens a number of issues, beyond the obvious.

I'm trying to keep out of the politics here, that's being done by some so doesn't need me to add to it but I do find it... unfortunate, as much because I genuinely think Steve did a good job as Trust chair of keeping the radicals at bay and keeping lines of communication open. I'd also say at open meetings he was one of the ones who was more open to fresh ideas from new faces than many.

So I find this... unfortunate in many senses of the word.

I've never met Steve, at least I don't think I have, and he seems a decent enough chap on here and has clearly put a lot of his time into the SBT and now the march / boycott.

That said I do think it raises a valid concern. People can rightly say they aren't following Steve and acting on their own behalf but the media will want a spokesperson and at the moment that is likely to be Steve. Now I doubt we're at a stage where they are going to go digging around but how many times have we seen people come unstuck with a dodgy tweet or retweet from years ago.

If you're putting yourself in the public eye, which I would say leading a campaign does, then you should be aware there is the potential for your background to be looked into and for people to look for dirt on you.

How about the attending fans try and cause disruption, similar idea to the pigs at Charlton, but they all chuck sky blue toilet rolls onto the pitch like streamers?
This way they get to watch the match (eventually when pitch is cleared) but also vent their anger)

I've known Steve for several years. I'll judge him by how he acts not by re-tweets on Twitter. I've seen many of those posts and disagree with lots of them, however they do not change my view of Steve as a decent, honest human being.
I know he has concerns about islamic extremism, he also has strong Christian principles. That does not make him a racist.
He stands up for what he believes and is a great advocate for Coventry City supporters. I am proud to call him my friend, that would not be the case if I considered him to be racist.
And he has the courage to be identifiable on here. It's too easy for people to have a dig from behind a cloak of anonymity like Andreas B. If you have any balls, come and seek me out on Saturday and let's have an honest conversation. My name's David Johnson and I'll be standing shoulder to shoulder with Steve on the march and at Jimmy's statue.

Ffs this guy was head of a group offering to discuss taking control of CCFC. He is now leading a consortium of groups on a protest. He is at the front, in the limelight under the spotlight and he has still been retweeting racist ( oder anti certain religions crap ), still follows scum and up until this thread was stupid enough to have that in the public domain. Sorry, but his tweets, retweets and following scum like the leader of Pegida, have disqualified him from representing a group of people who are interested in a non political cause. He maybe a nice guy and he is entitled to his opinion, but these views are classed as unsavoury by the majority of people and this will be used to discredit him and, by association, the fans. He should resign as 'leader'/ figurehead to protect the cause against criticism from outside. I still respect him for what he wants to achieve and the work he has done.

Funny how those that were on about fans unity are doing there best to distroy it.
This really is the lowest we have been.
Got to say I am now seriously thinking of throwing my ST away if it wasn't that I get to see my brother every Saturday I would.

Well fuck me....this has all escalated quickly hasn't it?! Said the other day that Steve came across as a decent bloke and haven't seen the tweets so can't comment on those other than to say I've blocked mates on twatbook for some shit they post. Unnecessary and tarnish's many, unfairly, with the same brush. NW response above is perfect. He seemingly did a lot good work but why is this only coming to light now??

Anyway, at the risk of bringing this thing back on topic, I understand and respect people's wishes to boycott. I think it's parp for a few reasons though:

* It's not going to be a full boycott. People will still go. It's not going to get overly noticed in the media (in my opinion)

* We played 34 miles from home and had attendances probably averaging around the 2k mark. They're still here...

* SISU ain't going until the court cases are over...no amount of protesting will change that.

So all we'll be doing, is keeping vital funds that could be used on wages. People's choices, fair enough...but I personally feel it won't make an ounce of difference to the situation and will only give us less money and less support for a young team.

Why would anybody need to come and have a conversation with you?
I had a quick look on the account before it was made private, and some of the stuff on there was abhorrent. There's no conversation to be had about what's been posted on there.

Way its going it will be a long drawn out death. Ticking over at 8-10k attendance's every other week is not enough of an impact to force SISU out, needs to be all or nothing. But in a 30K ground it is empty and lifeless, not generating enough income to get cov out of this situation. No players or managers of any quality will want to come and play in an empty ground with owners that are tighter then a ducks arse and infighting fans. Unite or fail.

If you were his mate, you need to tell him that sort of stuff is dangerous. Calling him a good bloke isn't good enough I'm afraid. That is some seriously nasty and inflammatory stuff he posts and anything but Christian.

Please don't play this down by suggesting meetings where you can make vague threats.

How come when anybody says come for a conversation people such as you bring "threats" into it? Nobody threatened you and nobody would what would you be threatened with? Ffs these people have met joy Tim, Anderson did they threaten any of them no. Why are you even mentioning the word threat,or are you an associate of Grendel who accused me of the same thing when I said to torch to meet me so that we could protest against. ACL. I don't threaten anyone, I don't fight anyone and nor do the people I know. Now you carry on with your agenda because you've had one since sixfields.
I have advised Steve to resign it's up to him if he does but only because of the shit he's getting on here. I'm not on twitter and am not going on it to trawl through numerous messages like you obviously have to say the next one is worse than the last.

Whatever is on anyone else's twitter account matters not.
What was on Steve's account was pretty vile tbh, so the fact he's heading up this protest group and was the chair of the SBT doesn't sit too well.

At the end of the day, surely a protest like this would WANT media coverage. Thats it's purpose.

You quite simply cannot have that media coverage potentially be derailed by the leader of said protests abhorrent far right wing views ... that will do more harm than good to the cause (the CCFC one if any of you have forgotten what we're all on about).

OK I'll start. I voted Conservative at the past 2 general elections. Racism disgusts me but I sometimes find racist jokes funny and have been guilty in the past of retelling them.

I voted Brexit because I want control of my country's borders and I don't want to be ruled by Brussels. I want everyone treated equally with no favours given to any "groups" just because its pc to do so. Am I a racist ? Surely that's for others to say and I couldn't care less. I haven't read anything beyond what came immediately above my message because its just a load of arguments as usual so I don't know what this has to do with stopping the boycott. Just thought I'd add my two penneth

jesus !!!!,
racism, religion, & politics have caused innumerable conflicts & wars throughout history,
THIS IS NOT ABOUT ANY OF THOSE FACETS,
imho, this is about a hedge fund attempting to reduce CCFC to tatters,
for the reason(s) we do not know,
imho the march, protest,
is nothing more than an expression of exasperation against the way sisu are treating & have treated each & everyone of US / YOU, AS COVENTRY CITY FANS

I absolutely agree. I sometimes wonder how on earth these threads descend into political or religious arguments when all we're talking about is the plight of our club. Perhaps some people want to impress us with their attitudes to famine, religion, politics, etc then we might think they're somehow clever.
