If you had a rover 75 and had this hanging from the front bumper, would you know what it was?
Also, would you be concerned?

It's an electrical connection most likely for the fog lights if it's hanging from the bumper. Switch them on and see if they both work

i think its a ambient temperature sensor :thinking about: just needs sticking back in the mounting on the bumper.should click into place.

I'd be more concerned about the Rover 75 than the bit hanging from it tbh.

Well, just on the off chance. I'm fixing an Astra Mk3 tonight (starter motor gone). Have removed the two bolts and it wont budge by hand. Is this where a hammer gets introduced to the starter motor in your book?

Just switch on everything electrical! What doesn't work, that's where it's from! It's called "process of elimination"!

Seeing as its the temperature sensor it will still work, even though it's hanging. So turn on everything that's electrical, see what works and boom It'll be one of them lol.

Lol!!! Made me chuckle, I had a rover 214sei many moons ago!! Head gasket went 3 times in a year!!! Heap of shit lol!
