Baker just doesn't have the ability to match his thought process. I like him for the effort he puts in but he just lacks the execution of the fancy things that he attempts.

It's the other way round. He doesn't have the brain to consider the easiest option, he then isn't able to execute the more difficult option anyway.
I disagree with this, anyone that saw Carl play against Birmingham in the league cup would of seen how good he can be. He lacks confidence, playing in a winning side breeds confidence. Hopefully he can kick on now and believe in himself, because he is a decent player!
i said after the game that it was the best individual performance ive seen from one of our players for quite some time. baker is the whipping boy round here it seems. when he does good things people refuse to acknowledge it but anything negative and its a competition to see who can boo the loudest. hes clearly a confidence player and this doesnt help.
No he is just a very average one as his career proves.

The fact that in 130 or so games for us, there seem to be only one or two games that his admirers rattle on about proves a point in itself.

not sure about that. baker is a player that no matter what he does people will moan and get on his back. the booing at 3 1 up in injury time made me laugh. the game was won, against a decent team and people still boo. pretty much any other player and it would have been an 'are well never mind'

Heard boos for McSheffrey, Clarke, Hussey, McDonald, Deegan, Barton, Baker, Kilbane, ROD, Clingan, Thomas, Eastwood all in the last year. Missed a few names out there as well for sure. That's 12 players just in that lot!
If fans think a player isn't pulling his weight fans get on their backs.
Not saying it's right, just the way it is. It is is nearly all the players and not just the nominated 'boo boy' as some make out. I think all players are a target if they don't pull their weight.
I'd agree to a certain extent but there's no doubt there's a huge tolerance difference from Baker to, say, Clark. Just as an example. It's always been the same to be fair.
Mind you, I don't remember Thomas getting booed?
He's been very poor in a few games to be fair.

i understand and agree with you. most players have been booed to some degree. i bet tho, that they have been booed when we are either behind in games or trying to get a winner eg when we are getting a little frustrated. with baker however it can be the first minute of a game or even the last minute when winning comfortably. i know i sound like his biggest fan but i think some of the treatment he gets from our fans is appalling
Yeah Clarke only needs to have a bad 5 minute spell for fans to get on his back....
Okay, but people saw how great he was against Birmingham and that then raised the bar in terms of their expectation of him in the following games. They thought that at last we were seeing the real Carl Baker.
He seems to turn it on only very occasionally though. Therefore fans see that and think he is a good footballer, but he then follows that up with 3 or 4 games that are not of an acceptable level.
Nowt irks fans more than that kind of inconsistency.
Think he is consistently bad, but has the anamolous good performance.

Isn't this the point people are making? That in THEIR opinion, they don't think he has been playing consistently badly with the odd good game?! And this has gone onto Baker getting abuse all the time and how pointless it is.
