The only blame is to be proactive and have a back up plan
Agree with all that but think the bigger solution may be more difficulty. And doesn’t negate the need to have a planTo be fair Pete, a back up plan for Wednesday has been formulated pretty quickly.
When you pay to rent a stadium, with an agreement for a pitch to be up to the standard required, and are promised it would have been re-laid, then you wouldn't expect it to be like a ploughed field that looks like a shit tip.
There's also not much you can do when the care and upkeep of the pitch is also not staffed by yourselves.
The fact that we are at the mercy of incompetent, lying wankers perhaps should have raised some concerns, but its pretty unheard of before and just shows the utter shit our landlords are.
Some people pay for travel to cbs of course. Probably cost about £15 in petrolIt’s the price of the coach. Adult tickets are £13, so you’re looking at £34 if you want to attend a first round game in Burton
I've heard it said by many seeking to blame the club that it was 'obvious' the pitch would be fucked after hosting the 7s and we should have known that.
For comparison, this it the ibrox pitch just days after the end of the 2014 CG where they hosted the 7s.
The issue wasn't the rugby, it's that it was played on a battered, patched-up surface that they could have replaced in the time window they had. They didn't and we're paying the price.

It’s an absolutely shite situation, and the Burton one is random too - why Burton?!
But any blame being apportioned to SISU/the club/Boddy is nothing but agenda pushing.
Plenty to have a dig about, but control of a pitch in a stadium we don’t own is not one.
Talk of buying a ticket to check the pitch is ridiculous too. How bad a situation would that be; the only way for the CEO of the club who play at the pitch to check it is to buy a ticket, huh?!
The club have a pretty good relationship with Burton I think.
When they were looking for grounds to play at when talks broke down between the club and Wasps, Burton were one of the few that agreed to a ground share. If St Andrews had fallen through I think they were the backup option.
I think the last thing it needs is people walking on it in heavy wooden shoes, no matter how clever they are. What’s your solution clever clogs
Next timeSurprised we haven't played at Walsall yet
"Following fan feedback ..."?Not sure if already posted but the Club just tweeted that all tickets sold for Wednesday will now be refunded. Easier to start again I guess.
I would imagine a similar decision will be made for the Rotherham game
Our grounds staff were locked out of the arena for the entirety of the CWGI think this is a fair point to be made - if the surface was invested in properly prior to now it wouldn’t be too bad - don’t remember the pitch after the olympics being too bad and that had a lot of 90 minute football played on it in a short period, and concerts that year. some days the olympics were one game straight after another.
Now my understanding is that that investment/maintenance is shared between the rugby club and us….. if that’s not the case this time then I’m happy to stand corrected, but I can’t believe that it’s purely down to wasps to maintain the pitch - doesn’t make sense to have our own ground staff if that’s the case. Wasps/arena ‘pay’ for everything and we now/seed whatever needs doing. Fair dos though if they said a new surface was going to be laid then fair enough.
I agree it’s a terrible situation to be in but I fear it’s a sum of a lot of factors.
edit: Coldplay also played on it the olympics year, so it’s not like the surfaces can’t take it - if managed properly.
And for a couple years in Northampton and Birmingham ,Should be used to it by nowOur grounds staff were locked out of the arena for the entirety of the CWG

If I was Boddy I'd refund all Rov'rum tickets, note down the total of the cash refunded then when they put the re-arranged tickets on sale I'd send WASPs the bill for any shortfall in the cash refunded.
Unrelated but why is everyone upper casing Wasps? A tribute to that weird chant they do?
What would the compensation be if we get a points deduction and miss out on promotion by up to 3 points?
Points deduction talk incoming...
