Genuinely had no idea we had him at youth level and released him in 2010.
Today he signed for Southampton for 13 million
Sums us up really lol
According to wiki he’s 5’9”. You hear a lot that clubs let players who are short go at youth level.
I remember when I was 12Blimey mate, you know how to bring a bloke down. I'd pay good money to get to 5' 9".

Like Jordan Ponticelli you mean? Just say it. You know you want to.Joined us at 7, left at 14.
Difficult to say who will and will not make it at 14.
We might be better off getting older kids and keeping them a bit longer.
Reckon if you look at any club that has a decent academy you'll find players were let go that later came good. Doesn't even mean if they'd be retained they'd be as good, sometimes getting released can be the wake up call.Joined us at 7, left at 14.

Agree it's a blow but it's hard to take pot shots at our academy. Served us very well in recent times.Genuinely had no idea we had him at youth level and released him in 2010.

Kevin KeeganYou win some, you lose some.
Hi Nick
When a player is under 24 and they have come through an academy, i remember reading something that 5% of the transfer fee is set aside for solidarity payments for training for current and previous clubs and that the club's get a tiny percentage of the transfer based on how long they were in the academy for. ie 0.25% of the fee from 12 up to 15 then 0.5% and increases from there. This is on top of any agreement you have in place when he left. Read this a while back

Still spent money on his development up.until that pointIf we chose to release him at 14 I don't see how we would be entitled to any payment whatsoever.
