Always been 'Chilesmore" to me and everyone I know. Lived on the fringes of Cheylesmore for several years and never heard it pronounced any different.

I agree as a former resident pronounced Charles more! I now live in Styvechale. More ways and spellings and saying of that name. confuses the hell out ofthe BBC!

Longfud or Long-ford?

Until a few years ago I only ever heard it pronounced Longfud, now I keep heaing it pronounced Long-ford in King Henry VIII educated accents.

What is it with Stivichall and Styvechale anyway?

Never found anything to explain the difference.

The original spelling of Foleshill was Fokeshull and I'm not making that up. It's shown on old maps of the area. Had me in stitches when I first saw it (Fock us all).
