Hes class!! Outshone most players last pre season and was outlr best player when our reserves played Moecombe in the cup before his injury!
I think he is an example of Thorns ability to find a good player (along with the fact o'halloran is leavin the club after only 12 months which proves my thoughts that Thorn wasnt responsible for scouting him, and he was one of the dudd signings Boothroyd asked for)
He had a great end to the season - obviously AT could see his main strength was in getting forward, and the diamond midfield formation suited him [as it suited Keogh and Clarke on the right]. He will only get better, though I would like to see another left back in the squad for next season - we need a squad of 22 with cover for every position in this league. It was right to let O'Halloran go imho.
That is a bold statement. He is looking like a good player but not our best. How did you know how good he was. Were you at the game where nobody would pass to him and he was jumping up and down waving his arms around? I think it was Cardiff the fans cheered when he got the ball lol.
I think we can judge him on next season. We do need cover as although Cranie and Wood could play there it would be nice to have a natural left back to fill in if needed. I am glad AT got rid of O'Halloran, I thought he started well but made silly mistakes which cost a lot of points when we were on the decline as did Cameron. Hopefully there is a youngster in the academy waiting for his chance to deputise if Hussey is injured.
I love his attacking style and his defensive game doesn't suffer for it. Looks comfortable considering it's his longest run since conference football!
I think he was helped by the fact he followed O'Halloran who was worst full back we've had in years. Never seen one player tactically at fault for so many goals.
Big fan! He's good going forward, but also appears to have improved drastically with the defending side of his game. Really impressed since being in the team and long may his quality performances continue!
One of Thorns' greatest signings. Has been superb since the Burnley game. Great crosses for goals against Preston, Watford and best of all Reading-almost impossible to defend against that kind of quality ball coming in. We should get him on corners ASAP.
Did anyone see what Wimbledon did in the BSP Playoff semi? Awesome stuff to score 8 goals over 2 legs in such a high pressure fixture. A superb team who play quality attacking football on the deck, which is why Hussey is coming into his own now. That's the type of football he has been taught to play. I really hope they do Luton in the final.
Bloody hell some people are getting waaaay over the top here. Best player at the club after the big 3????
Don't get me wrong, I want him to be our no.1 left back next year and I was hoping he was going to have a good season this year after he was excellent pre season. But he's not defensively rock solid yet and he is nowhere near being the 4th best player at the club.
As for why didn't Coleman play him, he clearly wasn't ready. In his first start I think he had to be hauled off at half time because he had an absolutely torrid time defensively.
In the game you are talking about we could have subbed any of the back 4 at h/t, as Coleman said in his post-match, they were all apalling. Hussey was the youngest and hence easiest to blame. I didn't say he's the best player at the club, and I also hate this "big 3" stuff-Aron wouldn't make our "big 9" based on how he's played! Hussey is WAY better than him. Maybe 6th or 7th best player? And best LB since Fox, with huge potential.
