Pressure should be applied on SISU until they produce concrete evidence in regards to a new stadium. This should be the focus IMO.

If they do produce this - then they have to be supported by the Trust from that point on. I can't see any other sensible way out of this mess.

Self sufficiency is a strange one. It sounds a perfectly reasonable aim but would it work. How many clubs, in any division, that aren't running at a loss experience any success. Would be interesting to know.

Pompey are being run on a long term self sufficiency plan that actually allows them to lose several million a year at the current stage of their plan. Despite that and by far the biggest crowds in L2 they are again struggling this season and look highly unlikely to get near the playoffs.

Can self sufficiency work without all teams signing up to it?

Not sure it can. It will get better in leagues 1 and 2 as teams get used to FFP and players wages slowly decrease in this league but that might be 10 years away.

It certainly can't work in the championship, when teams are allow to lose £39m over 3 years, that's why we need every penny and 365 day year income. Especially when you balance out income vs fan expectations.

The future is bleak.

That's exactly the problem. From observing Pompey the first season everyone was on a high from the takeover by the fans. This season it's been increasingly voiced that more money, which they don't have, or they need to sell to someone with money. If they can't compete in Div 2 with crowds of 15K while budgeting to lose a 7 figure sum I think it gives a strong indication you can't be self sufficient and successful.

I go out of habit and routine. I had a year off due to the move to Sixfields but the euphoria has long worn off, I did not even know who we was playing Saturday until I got to the Ricoh.

I pointed out to someone in the pub after the game that 22 years ago the corresponding fixture was Bobby Gould and his Coventry City team beating Liverpool 5-1 at Highfield Road, I was floating on air all the way to the Boxing Day thumping of the Villa.

A 1-1 draw against Fleetwood and their 50 fans will be forgot about already.

Yes the future is bleak.

Perhaps we can have some kind of Trust campaign to lead supporter unity, like Michael's NOPM brainchild, or the Demos at Sixfields. Michael is a great organising force and in harness with Steve and The Trust i'm sure it would be a great step forward. Our common ground remains more fertile than the trenches of our divisions.

Coventry being included in the queens speech, on the subject of reconciliation seems very apt.

Final words being the British and German troops mingling showed hope is always there. Reminds us why we shouldnt give up hope.
