Also makes a nice change to see a photo of City fans without the mad hatters in the front stealing the limelight. Tv cameras find them every time and I'm sure the rest of the country thinks we're all like that.

Nope, I was too young, but I do recall the Telegraph headline at the time and it was something along the lines of "The faithful fifty."

Took just 50 fans, but that must have been quite the trek back in those days

Great photos. I don't imagine it was that easy (or cheap) to travel to Bulgaria back then - certainly no package holidays to Sunny Beach available I would have thought!

Anyone know how many travelled to Munich in the next round?

Shame we couldn't play in Europe after winning the Cup as travel within Europe was much more practical by then, although also a bit more hazardous with all the aggro around at the time.

I was lucky,at the right age ,decent job. 3 years either side and would still be at college or married.There was a few hundred at Bayern I thought there was nearer 100 at Trakia.

Was there, chap at the front I’m sure is Mick Salmon was a match day steward for years. Not many went half a plane full we were all on the same plane as a load of Chelsea Shed boys on their way to a game also in Bulgaria but they were sound lads.
Never went to Munich game too expensive.
