Coventry City will travel to Portman Road on Saturday with less support than they would normally take for an away game.

The reason is simple and it is that many people feel the adult admission price of £31 or £33.50 if you pay on the day is too much in this day and age of economic recession and job insecurity to watch a Championship match.

Those who don't qualify for one of the discounts on age or disability grounds, don't have the Sun vouchers or do not want to go in the cheaper home areas as a number did last season, have said to us as well as writing via various media forms that they won't be paying over the odds to be in what is seen by many as a poor away end, compared to the facilities on offer to visiting supporters at the Ricoh Arena.

Unfortunately, supporters groups like the Football Supporters Federation or even the football authorities cannot offer any assistance for those wishing to complain as Ipswich Town are an independent business and can charge what they like for match admission as long as they charge their own fans the same for comparable facilities.

Texaco subsidising the cost of the official coaches has reduced the cost of that form of travel for once, however, when you take in the costs of getting to the Ricoh Arena and back due to the club's reluctance to pick up in town, something that those running alternative coach travel offer, it makes for a dear day out and one that many City supporters have chosen not to make.
