Well a reported £750k has been accepted by sisu it seems. We already heard that Pressley has missed out on a couple of targets and now moved to looking at loan players.

I can only think 3 more seasons at Sixfields has just been secured....

Not worth the hassle, his old man would insist on a contract clause that they should worship no false nines.

Seems like griffiths might not be going to Celtic, would this effect the Clarke deal, or is it already done ?

There is no correlation between Clarkes sale and 3 more years financed at sixfields.

Sign him up quickly. Looking at the pictures of Northampton's ground I have come to the conclusion that we could do with someone that can walk on water.

Wolves fans are saying that the Transfer Fee is £450,000 not £750,000. Fact is if it is not reinvested for a new striker we could be looking down with fear, Sisu won't be that stupid.

It’s understood a fee of around £750,000 has settled the deal for 28-year-old Clarke to return to his hometown club he left for £300,000 in January 2007 after Wolves had two earlier bids rejected.

Clarke, who has scored 18 goals this season - 15 of which have come in just 23 league games - will now re-sign for Wolves, subject to agreeing a contract and passing a medical.

The much-travelled striker, who has played for 14 different clubs in a nomadic career, must now set about winning over the Molineux faithful.

Wolves fans have so far given a lukewarm response to the return of a striker who never delivered on his considerable potential after emerging as a huge talent on graduating from the club’s academy.

And he leaves the Sky Blues on bitter terms, after being criticised by boss Steven Pressley for “letting his team-mates down” when refusing to play in last night’s 2-0 defeat at Leyton Orient, citing a foot injury sustained in Friday’s 4-0 FA Cup defeat away to Arsenal.

This came after he submitted a transfer request within hours of Wolves’ first bid being made public.

But those close to Clarke say he’s a changed man, and his statistics as well as leaner appearance this season bear out a player who is finally fulfilling his potential.

Clarle scored 15 goals in 83 appearances – 48 of which came off the bench - in his first spell at Molineux before joining Sheffield Wednesday following scoreless loan spells with Kidderminster, QPR and Plymouth.

For the Owls, Clarke scored 18 goals in 83 league games – 40 of which were as a substitute – before joining QPR permanently in June 2010 after prolific loan spells with Oldham and Southend.

But his time at Hillsborough ended in chaotic fashion after he broke his toe celebrating after scoring in a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace and had to be substituted and Wednesday were relegated from the Championship.

Failing to establish himself at Loftus Road, Clarke was loaned to Preston before signing for Swindon, where he had a furious bust-up with controversial boss Paolo Di Canio and was loaned to Chesterfield after just two games, scoring nine times in 14 appearances.

From there he signed for Charlton but failed to win a regular place and was loaned to Crawley and Scunthorpe, where he bagged an impressive 11 goals in 15 games.

That prolific return persuaded Coventry to take him on loan and after just one substitute’s appearance on loan, he signed permanently for the Sky Blues and has hit 23 goals in 34 league games.

Wolves have so far rejected two offers from Celtic for £1m-rated Griffiths but that deal is now expected to go through before Friday’s 11pm deadline.

99% of fees are undisclosed and no doubt this one will be too. People on forums just pluck a figure out of the air and then rant about it. Like Lord said last week though, people can't complain about selling players for peanuts while at the same time complaining that SISU are taking all our cash to the Caymans.

THe club turned down two offers before yesterday so to me that says we got a pretty decent return for someone we got a year ago for nothing. He's a good striker, but he wanted out, you can't keep players like that.

£150K, I heard.....cue outrage....

The Telegraph say " no fee has been disclosed but a figure of 1 million seems reasonable in the current market ".

is that the current market with hundreds of players out of work or the current market of desperate clubs paying ridiculous sums for any player who might score a goal?

No way! Whatever it is there will be strings attached and the full fee may never be paid due to conditions, like number of appearances etc. never being met.

It seems the lower the wage bill becomes, the higher the legal bills become. I wonder at what point the annual legal bill becomes higher than the annual wage bill, maybe we are already there.
