And I know it wasn't you, but for anyone to call fans who have been going up for 50 years or more 'wankers' because they wouldn't wish to move, well that is very much something every decent fan of this club should take objection to.
What are you talking about?
Where has anyone said on here that fans should be quiet? Where on here has it said about fans telling other fans to be quiet? :thinking about::thinking about::thinking about:
Couldn't agree more. I'm sure the bovril brigade and the werther warriors will disagreeAlso - closing the back rows to get us all closer together will create a much better atmosphere and will generate more noise at pitch level. 'Supporters' should get onboard with such initiatives - we need to make home advantage count.
Yeah fair Otis but we arent talking about the main stand.
I remember quite often there was a great atmosphere in the east stand and sky blue stand at highfield road.
So because it's been quiet since we moved to the Ricoh it should be so ever more?
Apart from the West Terrace Highfield Road was quiet.
The one thing that might liven up the Ricoh is filling up the away stand from the block nearest our home fans instead of the furthest block.
Just because the OAPs in block 20 don't sing it doesn't mean they have a problem with it being noisy
The people in Block 20 on the whole don't seem to mind any cheering or clapping on the Sky Blue Song, but my guess is they wouldn't like any of the swearing or aggressive chants.
Seems abundantly clear to me. I see many of these OAP's struggle to their seats and taking ages to get up the steps and then find they are sitting really high up in the stands. That tells me they want somewhere quiet.
And Cyril, think about it, it has always been like this and was exactly the same in the Main stand at HR. This year's 40 and 50 year olds are going to be the next generation of 70 and 80 year olds. It's always been the same and it's just a conveyor belt.
Could be true for the majority of them. My personal experience on the previous page was an example of old boys in block 20 taking exception to singing. That's out of order!
It's nonsense to say that our support will always be quiet, whereas other clubs will always be noisy. It depends on the demographic of the fans - not some historical trend extrapolated into eternity.
I'd say we are quiet because it is expensive to attend games and generally it prices out the youngsters who typically make the most noise. Also haven't had any success with which to attract younger generations to games.
If we have a period of success then younger fans will come and we'll get a lot more noise. The Ricoh is much better than HR ecoustically - we've actually had a few games down the years where it's got very noisy - just needs to be fuller.
It's nonsense to say that our support will always be quiet.
It's not nonsense and I didn't say our support will always be quiet if you'd care to read what I said again. I said certain areas of the ground will always be quiet.
I have been going up since the 1960's and the Main Stand has always been quiet, both at HR and the Ricoh. Always. That is close to 60 years.
It's not a point you can argue on. It is a fact. Fantastical talk to suggest that after decades and decades and decades and decades of parts of the ground being quiet that they are suddenly become noisy. The 1960's was our most successful ever period too.
What annoys me is the lack of noise from other areas. I don't mind fans that don't sing especially if they are past their singer age! But when you go to other grounds, let's say The City ground, Forest you have every end making noise! I haven't seen that since Chelsea or Blackburn in the cup.
Things should be done to improve the noise generated. For starters the array of songs we have is laughable.
