Collins On The Bench Again (1 Viewer)

Does this mean that Frank hasn’t written Collins off like the majority of Sky Blues supporters ?

He was terrible last year, worse this year yet he remains at face value our chosen number two ? Is Wilson still not ready for a return or are we stuck with Collins as our genuine chosen number two for the season ahead ?

I think it means he has written Wilson off more than anything about Collins

Decent enough team, back to the shape which brought us success and a strong bench.

Feeling pretty hopeful.

Side note; the constant point scoring and bickering is tragic.

Collins may be shite. But just might be better than an outfield player having to go in goal in case of an injury to Dobin.

He really isnt , he may be slightly better but both are poor championship keepers
Wilson has made mistakes, like all goalkeepers do btw, but nothing in comparison to the mistakes Collins has made. I have seen much better in the national league and that’s not a joke.

If we can shift Collins and Wilson in the summer I wonder if the best play would be to get an older experienced keeper that wants to get into coaching in but is still ready to be called upon as backup .Someone who can help Dovin and our other young keepers. Lampard must have a few contacts. We could then invest a bit in another talented youngster who can be developed as a Dovin replacement when he moves on.

In all likelihood Wilson will be released in the summer and Collins will be our no. 2 next season. Financially our backup goalkeeper won’t be a priority to improve. So makes sense to have Collins involved.

I think we can do better then either Wilson or Collins but the replacement(s) will have to be satisfied with mostly sitting on the bench.

Wilson out of contract at end of season. If we can't move Collins on we're stuck with him so I think he's keeping him keen and probably hoping we don't need either.

Been training for 2 months....
He is coming back from a knee injury and a period of that time the training pitches have been hard and frozen. Also what is your interpretation of training for two months? What type of training and in what type of environment?

Not got a problem with them both going but if we ship out Wilson and keep Collins thats a bad decision imo
As has been said he may well be wanting to offload both, but Wilson is easy as you just release him at the end of his contract in June. Collins still has a couple of years left so may be harder to get him off the books, even on a free.

Our training pitches that are state of the art and will be well maintained...

He has been in full contact training for 7ish weeks based on when Lampard first reported he was back in full training In December.

Bit of a weird thing to die on the hill on, he's not rated by Lampard at the moment, so what?

Would rather have a goalkeeper with decent ability rather than someone who turns up with his training kit in a carrier bag and makes silly faces whenever the media team are around

Could hire a lot of Butlins staff for the wages of a L1 GK…

For a back up he's decent, and a damn sight better than Collins.

I don't get Wilson not being on the bench. I don't care if he won't be here next season, we can't have a situation where Collins might have to be subbed on.

It's very rare that a goalkeeper gets substituted

I get to the seat early most home games and I've noticed Collins seems to have more of a spring in his step in recent games. Looks like he's warming up ready to play, rather than just be a sub, and I've seen him running around at half time like a winger who is waiting for the call. Attitude seems to have improved. Whether that plays a part in him over Wilson, no idea, but something I've noticed.

Maybe Lampard feels there is no significant difference between the 2.
