There are 6 or 7 thousand reasons a week why he’ll be happier at reading plus around another 120000 reasons as soon as he signed the dotted line. He went for money and lots of it. Accept it and forget him, he’s left, gone, history just the same as Dublin, Keane, hately, and Wallace. If we had made McNulty stay? i seriously believe McNulty was very happy here, why wouldn't he be,great team spirit, bagged loads of goals, got promoted, sure once Reading came knocking and his agent saw £ signs, and a higher league and better wage, yeah of course he would be interested,i mean who wouldn't,but to say no guarantee he would banging in the goals is utter rubbish,he would of,everybody knows it, Reading know it, he would of scored 20+ in this league without doubt, if we don't replace him,we could struggle, yeah i am sure Robin's will be hoping Ponticelli and the rest of them will come good, they may,but it is a gamble and beside none of our current strikers could match the goal tally of McNulty at a higher level too.
I am sure Robins working with McNulty day to day and having the opportunity to speak face to face is better placed to make a decision if it was right to sell McNulty rather than you.
Replacing McNulty is difficult, but it doesn't make the decision to sell wrong.

Others have pointed out the new contracts we've had to give to both new players coming in like Ogogo and Junior Brown as well as improved contracts to Doyler etc.Nobody in the last two pages is having a go at McNulty for going, your point is about 3 weeks late. We’ve done the whole why he went and is he a prick or not, weeks ago. My point was about his replacement or lack or replacement and why money keeps disappearing.
Also, to whoever said it, I wasn’t suggesting Robins should get 100% or player sales towards his transfer budget. I’m saying we should support the manager and at least give him 30% of a player sale to a replacement. Hardly an unrealistic demand, we’ve pocketed from Maddison and McNulty so now why isn’t any % of that money being given to robins to fund a replacement?

yep agree with this. Fee was technically agreed but Portsmouth didn't find their man. Would hope we would have an 'active' plan B rather than have to start the process from scratchMaddison money will presumably go on ensuring we breakeven/make a profit. It seems a lot of people have forgotten we’re in millions of debt.
30% of £1.2m is £400k which is what we’re rumoured to be spending on Chaplin. In the case of this transfer, money isn’t the problem, Portsmouth aren’t willing to let him go until they’ve found a replacement. If Robins has identified Chaplin as the ideal replacement for McNulty, then it’s worth the wait. By the transfer deadline, I’m going to guess we’ll have spent roughly £600-800k of the McNulty fee.
wouldn't say dead but still hangs on Portsmouth finding their man which is looking unlikely.I can't be arsed to read all through this again. Is this deal now dead in the water? Not that we heard anything officially anyway.
All this goes to show why some of us were annoyed when McNulty was sold, not that the fee was wrong but that we all knew that £1.2 million would disappear in thin air, just like the windfall £3 million from Maddison did...and what a surprise, Robins has already hinted there isn’t money to spend. Great idea selling McNulty.
Couldn't agree more with you ... well said !
Have you got any quotes that back up this shite?Robins has already hinted there isn’t money to spend.
Can you answer what people have asked him then?
Where has Robins said there is no money? What makes you say that money has vanished?
....poo.Looks like he's done a....
A very knowledgeable gentleman whose name could have been Jim told me last night Chaplin has signed for Bristol city !
Yes you are right it wasnt Chaplin it was Eisa - sorry dumb blonde moment !Alongside Eisa?
just need Portsmouth to find a replacement......Cov Telegraph saying that Robins is saying the deal could still be on, but pieces need to fall in to place. Sounds like he also has other irons in the fire

Don't know about the OP but personally don't know any quotes where he said there definitely isn't any money ... BUT it's for sure that we haven't spent any of it YET ... and it shows ... on the pitch, no strike force worth talking about and that will be down to the McNulty sale prior to getting a replacement ... unlike sensible Portsmouth ... SISU cashing in ? Too early to say, as we do have a little time still pre the closure of transfers and whilst I don't trust SISU I do have faith in Robins ... so guess we will see ... hope Robins wins this round ...
Can't see it myself but hope your correctWhy is it without a doubt? His record in this league previously wasn’t great.
JCH has arguably more experience at this level and higher levels. With a preseason behind him, I think JCH will surprise a few
Have you got any quotes that back up this shite?
Clever move Gilbert but no I won’t be visiting your clickshite website for quotes. Pusb
Where did you read it in the first place then?
You mean you haven't and either made it up or repeated somebody else making it up...
I take Robins quotes as managing expectations, as mentioned above, I don’t think he has got a chunk of money to spend but you lot have taken it in the very literal sense of: he said he doesn’t have millions to spend, he didn’t say he didn’t have hundreds of thousands to spent....
It’s called interpretation, not making it up. This is SBT not a police interview.
I’m willing to bet we don’t spend any money on a player to replace McNulty before the end of the transfer window- and no a three year contract to Ponticelli or a nominal fee to a non-League club doesn’t count. I hope I’m wrong mind.
Robins has already hinted there isn’t money to spend
You said:
I just asked where he had done that as did others. Now you don't think he has "a chunk".
Also, where and when has all of the other money disappeared into thin air and how do you know none of it has been used already on bringing players in?
Okay, if you’re going to take it the n’th degree, I take it back, here’s my amended statement - I don’t think he has enough money to spend in order to replace McNulty effectively.
