Why is it that the contracts offered end sometime in June or in some cases July? Seems pretty dumb that you can't get new players until 5 or 6 weeks before the season begins. You need time to 'gel' a new team together. Right now we have a situatiuon where we can't make an offer for a new goalkeeper as we don't know for weeks yet whether Westwood is definately going as his contract hasn't officially ended.
Why would'nt CCFC give contracts that end the day after the last match of the season? Surely that would also save paying these guys for their holidays.
I would imagine its to give a period of 4 weeks minimum after the last possible game, which could potentially have been the play off final on may 30th
For example If contracts ran out on May 31st, and for some bizarre miracle we made the playoff final this year, having players contracts running out the day after wouldnt be prudent, especially if the final got abandoned or postponed for some reason!
