But there is a new virus every year.
Its only recently that we've had the means to identify and name each seasonal strain.

PHE said we had 1692 flu related deaths 2018/19 in England. As at 6th Feb this year there had been 70 deaths from flu since October.
The first death was 16 days ago and we've had 176 since. It is not even comparable. There have been bad flu seasons in the past of course but as you point out, there is a at least partial vaccine for that.

One conspiracy that I think may be true is how the whistleblower - a young, healthy doctor - ended up being a casualty of the disease. Very convenient for the Chinese authorities who'd tried to silence him and stop the news of this leaking out.

My wife and I have just agreed to total lock down for the foreseeable. Shes not going to her mums tomorrow, wont see her sister either.

We're close to doing similar pending moving into the new house, with a six week old and a two year old I'm not taking chances I don't need to.My wife and I have just agreed to total lock down for the foreseeable. Shes not going to her mums tomorrow, wont see her sister either.
Only one of us to leave for food only.
