I think you're on the wind up on this. The Labour run council in Coventry is not 'Socialist'. They are mostly from the Blairite side of the party, and are kind of 'Tory Lite'. That's why Dave Nellist was elected against them as a 'Socialist' Councillor for a number of years. Would have been interesting to see how the Council would have worked if they had been more left wing, but as it is we can only speculate.

Philosoraptor has a good point about low turn outs though. It really should be possible for a properly organised campaign to win seats in local elections from outside traditional party lines. I think its a crying shame that through this period of our football club's history we haven't been able as fans to get organised like Charlton fans did on a single issue non party basis, to shake things up for the benefit of our football club.

I don't think we're anywhere near that yet
Would suggest two or three things.
Younger age groups are significant.
The over sixties haven't really been told they're at any more risk or omitted from much advice .
The early data out of China suggested they along with the over 70's were a significant number ,both around double those of over 80's but a fifth of that mortality rate.

Question - is the furlough scheme a grant to pay the wages or are the companies expected to pay it back?

I did think it seemed a bit extreme, it's almost like a dream that he had. The age cut off seems rather arbitrary as well.

Surprised the Coventry scores are not higher the way people congregate in Parks, Home Parties, barbeques Etc.

Why would the government palliate the figures? If they were higher it would all come out in the end and the ramp up would be enormous. People need to realise the figures will start to get really ugly in 7 days time. Yes the desease seems to be taking 3 weeks to get out of the system so the figures for recovery are not going to rising just yet

Why would I be on a wind up? I have not lived in Coventry since 1978 and asked what I thought was a reasonable question. If I have offended you or anybody that was not my intention. Actually whatever you think really immaterial to my question.
I visit Coventry often, mainly for football(oops) and my family home is in Nuneaton for about two months of the year.
I do have an opinion however that the labor party has not assisted Coventry in the way it could have given the voting demographics.

Everyone’s gone bananas. Speaking to strangers like shit. No need for all this hostility between the public, it’s doing my head in.

Now my experience is it's gone all 'village' around where I live. Pass strangers in the street (at a 2m gap!) and they smile and say hello, something I've never had before since moving here! Everyone queued very politely for the supermarket, and the DPD delivery driver was well chuffed now he doesn't have rush hour to deal with (even though I didn't fancy a chat and really wanted him to just sod off, what can you do?!? Again, at a 2m distance!)

I've found people a lot friendlier tbh!

Wouldn't they just need their usual lab ppe as they aren't actually dealing with the patient directly

That's different but as from my experience it's the nurses etc who take bloods wouldn't they have access to the main ppe supply?

The 2m is pretty challenging to CONSTANTLY keep on top of. It’s the people mouthing off because you’ve breached it accidentally. I’ve always been one for personal space anyway, but 2m won’t save your life. People are being a bit OTT about it.

They are not nurses. Even when they take blood on the wards it’s difficult to get PPE
