That's the kind of thinking requiredmine are just about old enough to stay on their own if worst comes to worst. We have a couple of families we’re ‘child pooling’ with, there’s always at least one parent off- which obviously is a risk but what else can you do, contact is limited to 3 families, 3 houses and none of us are in the vulnerable category. Not sure we can do too much more. Work from home is very widespread here anyway, but my WiFi is shit.
At my daughter's school, there's a lot of camp children.Needs some kind of childrens camp like measles parties
Not good reading. Basically we shut down for 18 months or quarter of a million people die.
So it seems the sneering about other countries was actually inaccurate, who'd have thought it?Not good reading. Basically we shut down for 18 months or quarter of a million people die.

So, what is every other country that has shut its schools down doing?
85 countries have closed their schools. What about all the parents working there?
Mine too. And the choice is stark and it’s not black and whiteI've not read it, but that is some fucking choice eh?
Would the death toll be greater than 250K if we closed down our already austerity-starved fragile economy for 18 months?
I've got no idea, but gut feeling would be yes.
It's a fucking disgrace, nasty heartless bastards.Theres sadly plenty at my kids school that probably won't get another hot dinner for months if school closes......
....yet the pricks are looking at bunging billions at the fucking airlines....
So it seems the sneering about other countries was actually inaccurate, who'd have thought it?
Who do you think?Who sneered sick boy ?!
Schools shout be shut in my opinion.
Word has it that the virus doesn't hit children so hard and that they only get mild symptoms.
Fine, but these children catching the virus are then going home to adults who are much more likely to have health issues and be at risk, and who may well have been avoiding as much social contact as possible.
I don't see why we are sending children to school to bring the virus back home with them.

Yep when I think of Italy and Spain and France I only feel empathy and sadness at what’s happening not sneeringWho sneered sick boy ?!
You in coventry ian? We’ve sent home over 100 kids today that are showing symptoms but still came to school. 30% of our staff are self-isolating.
From tomorrow Y8,9 & 10 have been told to stay at home until at least 1st April.... we’ll be fully shut by end of week IMO.
Doctors are in the unenviable situation of having to decide who lives and dies and who gets resources, the elderly with the virus are not being prioritised. The general view of many experts is that this is not containable that’s the issue and there is no escaping the fact italy has a very high death rate
see attached - NHS in talks with private sector for coronavirus help
(Date of article - 10
March - before labour/unions started mentioning it, by then it was pretty much agreed as shown below)
The government will rent 8000 private beds - 8,000 private hospital beds to be rented to NHS for £2.4million per day
I think you are talking about the fake video circulated on social media. See attached which details that he didn’t say we should ‘take it on the chin’ at all. He said some would suggest we do that but his/our aim is to soften the peak.
Here is the transcript of what Boris Johnson said on This Morning about the new coronavirusHere is the transcript of what Boris Johnson said on This Morning about the new coronavirus
(Also note date of interview ie 5 March which goes against all the ‘take it on the chin’/herd immunity/let everyone get it theorists - yes as part of softening the peak many would get herd immunity but that wasn’t the primary aim until the last 48 hours as some are suggesting. The government has just ramped up its response/measures (which it always said it would do) after remodelled numbers show the peak is coming sooner.
On Friday night (albeit after a couple of beers) I had to call out ROS, not because of his views on the governments actions/inactions (that’s each to their own) but because he said Cummings was behind the government strategy. I said this couldn’t be the case as I’d listened to an interview with Mayor Khan earlier last week when he said (live on LBC) that he was taking the same advice from the same medical/scientific advisors (directly and undiluted). I was then told I was deflecting.
I’ve said numerous times that these are worrying time’s for all. You and others may disagree with the timing of the government implementation of certain measures, their preparedness or not, but let’s cut out the lies and political bullshit on social media as all they do is cause more panic/worry.
No NorthamptonYou in coventry ian?
No Northampton
Yes you are right. Not the right time nor place to have this debate so I'll just leave it.
Are things as bad as they say over there?
Yes you are right.
At the moment it is pretty grim and depressing and I think it will continue like this for at least another 3 weeks in terms of the lockdown. The Italians are usually aggressive with each other but literally the last few days there have been 3 proper arguements that have nearly turned into actual fights, this would normally be unheard of in the middle of day, especially where we live.
That's okay if they only kill everyone with the virus. They'll kill everyone
Have trust in Boris! Him and his experts will get us trough this, sadly people will always try and point scoreMy issue is this - i am generally optimistic by nature, and tend to think that there is a lot of scaremongering being put out by the media (and ESPECIALLY social media) based on ignorance, or at the very best a very small amount of factual scientific knowledge about this novel disease.
So i would like to think that the way the government is managing this (based on the best AVAILABLE scientific advice) will avoid the hundreds of thousands of deaths that some are suggesting. I sure HOPE that is the case, but history alone will provide the answers.
The problem comes with all this self-isolation. In the absence of a vaccine, we simply HAVE to get people who are NOT especially vulnerable to get infected. Only those who have had the infection will be immune from passing it on to others in society who need things doing for them. The chickenpox party idea is spot-on - but that should not be for children only: adults who are not likely to get anything worse than mild-to-moderate symptoms should join in. It won't make things any worse for the economy than the advisory measures currently in place (whole households isolating, many people working from home, etc). And once the whole family has had it and recovered, they can go and see grandma again, and minimise that really tough period of isolation that she will have had to endure. If we all crawl out from under our rocks in a month's time because we're sick of being under it, and the death rate figures start to fall, the disease WILL return with a vengeance.
Thanks for hearing me me out. I'm not saying "trust in Boris", but speaking as a scientist, I have to put some trust in those analysing the data and advising him.
Take care, all!

Hardly fucking bigging him up is it, just getting behind his plans to help the country and economy something which maybe you should be doing instead of bitching because you have a dislike to our PMYou're bigging up Boris while saying people shouldn't point score.
You need testing- and not for the virus.
Hardly fucking bigging him up is it, just getting behind his plans to help the country and economy something which maybe you should be doing instead of bitching?
It seems the eu will help us buy ventilators if we want them toNot if his plans don't make sense.
Try not to go out but at the same time don't hoard.
Can car manufacturers make ventilators?
Don't explicitly instruct venues and theatres to close to protect my mates in the insurance industry while putting future of said venues in jeopardy.
You get behind him all you like. He's a fucking pillock
