I'm convinced there is more corruption in today's football than meets the eye.
One very suspicious incident was in the recent Chelsea vs Stoke game which Chelsea won 2-1.
In this game, the Stoke keeper Begovic rolled the ball out straight to a Chelsea player and Chelsea scored.
Before this the score was 1-1 and heading for a draw.
An honest mistake? Maybe, but maybe not.
It was completely out of character for the goalkeeper to roll the ball out under those circumstances.
Are such incidents ever investigated I wonder?
The commentators just brushed the incident aside but there are many other equally suspicious incidents occuring regularly in top games.
And the results of these games are subject to very heavy betting by various syndicates.
An old article but still relevant I think:

I would say it is much less likely to happen it the very higher echelon of the game due to the exorbitant amount of money these players get paid from their clubs and in sponsorship money.

How much would you have to pay to bribe a millionaire who really doesn't need the money and to take the risk? I'm not saying that it wouldn't happen but I would say it was less likely.

Also, with the spotlight so firmly on the Premier League with it being shown around the world the chances of being caught are significantly higher.

With that all said if there is one player who can influence a game more than any other it is the goalkeeper.

In that case our games could rarely be fixed. The opposition goalkeepers often don't get the chance to influence the outcome.

I'm a firm believer that there is no-one more greedy that the people who already have a lot of money.
And as for that spotlight, where is the spotlight on Begovic or the players who miss absolute sitters every week.
Obviously players make mistakes but when the mistake is hardly believable you have to ask yourself what just happened?
Also, regarding a lone person who can influence a game, not just the goalkeeper but the referee. And they aren't paid much and cannot be questioned!
