If we pay a fee for a nearly 35 year old I'd be livid, especially when money is so tight.Hi all,
Not heard anything / don't know anything, but if I recall from a previous thread, the stumbling block of the return of Baker was a possible fee - could MR now use some of the Thomas money on this or is this deal unlikely?
Apart from Moorhouse - any other players being rumoured?
Doesn't it depend on how much - a nominal fee would be OK?If we pay a fee for a nearly 35 year old I'd be livid, especially when money is so tight.
Nothing - just remembering the threads from a few weeks ago and speculating that MR has some money available (though he may have already spent it / might not be given it). What is there to at all to suggest Baker?
You what?!What is there to at all to suggest Baker?
Could argue that we have a reasonable pipeline of potential players (that will be gone before they hit their peak) and investing in a player that makes a significant difference in us returning to league one, even if only useful for two years, might be worth it...As we've lost a long term prospect, we need to reinvest the money in another player for the longer term. We'll get nowhere otherwise.

What sort of midfielder is he? Attacking/Defensive/Box to Box etc.?Baker has been moved to center midfield and not doing that well there. He will be moved back to the right side and does have a roll to play there according to our manager.
This would be a great signing for you, we've released him as we are after a Cardiff player
Gary Roberts: Portsmouth midfielder leaves club by mutual consent

Ok, cheers. Did you mean he gets on with Doyle? He can play all those roles. Very good engine, tough tackler and scored 14 for us. Gets on well with Roberts.

Lol Yes, sorry got confused. Don't know why he was training own on his own very much a team player. Can only assume the new manager wanted to move on a few players, wage budget and all that.Ok, cheers. Did you mean he gets on with Doyle?
33 but one I'd seriously consider!
Perhaps wages might be a stumbling block for us, but hopefully Robins will get his way (if we're interested). Can only assume the new manager wanted to move on a few players, wage budget and all that.
We make pennies off shirt sales.Based on the number of people on social media begging for his return, any transfer fee would be made back on shirt sales, wouldn't it? It'll be our version of the Neymar deal. Seriously though, id take him back on a free but would begrudge spending money on him.
Hence the use of the words 'seriously though' in the middle of that post.We make pennies off shirt sales.

Couldn't disagree more FP, if a player gets us up this year then it's paid its way.As we've lost a long term prospect, we need to reinvest the money in another player for the longer term. We'll get nowhere otherwise.
I would rather the money spent on an out and out goal scorer, if there is one out there
At this level proven doesn't exist.

Yes ideally you want to plan for the future but we need to get out of this division as a priority.
We should sign someone called Heaven then it could be pennies from heavenWe make pennies off shirt sales.
