Could It Be That Thorn Wants Shot Of Juke? (1 Viewer)

We are all vilifying SISU for selling Turner and Juke - but I was just wondering if its actually Thorn who wants shot of the pair of them? He likes ball playing centre backs and is happy with Keough and Cranie as his first choices so maybe sees Turner as surplus to requirement and would rather spend any money receiced on a striker? A couple of weeks ago he made his infamous Cows arse with a dead badger comment about our strikers scoring ability and we all acknowledge that Juke is a good player and even better prospect but will probably never be a prolific scorer. Maybe he has decided he needs a goalscorer and that Porkin is a better bet than Juke for goals and the budget doesn't allow him to have both?
Might not be a popular view that its not all the Evil Empire and Darth Dulieu's doing but may be it is actually Thorn doing a bit of wheeling and dealing? Guess the next few hours will answer the question.

But is Parkin a better bet on the goals front? Didn't Juke get 11 goals last season? Bang on par with the return of Parkin.

Yeah, sell him just as he starts scoring, that is an astute move.

Frankly I don't think AT has any say in the matter, he has said b4 on the radio "I do as I am told".

i doubt thorn wants to get rid of juke, and as for turner, he netted 5 goals last season too, he is that centre back everyone fears from a corner. quite frankly if thorns wants shot of him too he's a damn fool. especially since we need cover if we get injuries. Cameron is still a kid and is not as good as turner. as for mcpake, yes he's a good player but again its all about cover.

Just putting the question out there - personally as it would have been AT who scouted Juke and he fits into his system better than the oil tanker that is Parkin I doubt it myself but just thought I would float the idea as am bored of the SISU are just selling off anything that moves threads. If Clingan and Cranie go then I will be mightily pissed off, if Juke or Bigi go will be very pissed off but Turner going is a shame but we have survived for 10 months without him so no really great loss now - will be in future when he's playing in the Prem and we are in "if only" mode. I believe Parkin will do a decent job and may even become a bit of a cult hero but he is a step sideways at best and certainly nothing like the potential that Juke possesses - Parkin's career on way down, Juke still on way up.

Good theory but I think Ken DuOne has told him the only way to get new players in is to trade some.

The money is on that Juke is leaving and been touted around. So Turner and Juke go and we get two strikers in Parkin and McDonald? Could be a good partnership.

I would like Juke to stay but we would then have Juke, Cody, Parkin, Eastwood, Platt and Jeffers. Can't see us having all these strikers on our books.

Ashbyjan...You've mentioned were taking a sideways step with Parkin and that his career is on way down. And jukes is on the up. But if truth be told our club is on the way down. Is Parkin really a sideways step? I'd say it's a slight step down for him. We need experience in our team, experience of this league. He has it in abundance. Although I want to keep juke, I won't be surprised and to be honest I won't be gutted if he goes. We need to keep clingan tho! Absolout must!

I too wouldn't be too bothered if Juke leaves, he trys hard and will probably turn into a decent player at some point, but right now we need a forward line who will be a threat in front of goal. Juke should have 4-5 goals this season if he knew where the net was. Like others have said, Parkin will be brought in as a target man with experience, with this McDonald lad as the little man/ goalscorer.

It actually all makes sense to me.

Possibly on Turner as AT seems set on Cranie and Keogh being his first choice. I very much doubt on Juke as he talked him up loads in pre season.

Swansea have failed with there Bates bid so I guess that's Middlesborough out the race for him.

and didnt more goals come the pen spot then open play?

Cody and Parkin could be a very decent partnership.

Nice idea that hadn't crossed my mind. But i still think it's a case of 'sell anything of value' instructions from the board.

We could still get rid of another centre half. Would't raise the same cash as Juke, but I'm sure Thorn would rather see Wood or McPake leave.

I'm just glad Thorn is the one wheeling and dealing so there shouldn't be any Chris Birchall or Ellery Cairo types.

And juke got 9, 4 pens, 5 open play, from my memory: Leeds tap in, boro away tap in when he smashed the post, Norwich away tap in, Watford at home if I remember it's another just outside the 6 yard box and Burnely away that little header over there keeper.

Saying all that, if jukey leaves I'll be disappointed but the task set on him this year at such a young age is daunting, and only second season with us, but we will get what, wait, sisu will get £1.5m ish. I suspect if thorny gets any transfer money it'll be off turner.

Hopefully no Bell or Baker types either.

Juke isnt a big loss if he goes to be honest IMO, Would be happy if we got Parkin and one of Paynter/Mcdonald in replacement.

Turner, like him but as stated he hasnt played since November, I imagine he is on a big whack seeing as he just signed a new contract and we have an abundance of good centre halves, I actually think Wood is better in an attacking sense than BT. from corners etc.

People hate Sisu that much that if we sell anyone today they will be ringing the samaritans.

I have a feeling we will finish today with a better squad than what we started with.
