Could not scoring 'scrappy' goals cost us? (1 Viewer)

Most of our goals seem to be worldies, bullet headers, nice moves, decent finishes, but we need some of those ones that bobble off the shin to start hitting the back of the net.

To me this is the most exciting team and best chance of success we have had since the Premiership days, but our goals to shots ratio concerns me. This isn't knee-jerk based on second string blank in the JPT although according to the stats, again we did have enough shots to have comfortably won the game.

Even on Saturday when we did win 3-0, I had that horrible sinking feeling at 1-0 before the penalty that they would get a lucky equalizer (possibly part of being a City fan).

Without Armstrong the goals do not seem to be there, despite our decent build up play and number of shots.

Do you think this will come right soon or will it ultimately cost us an automatic or play off spot?

it will come good with time. you cant keep having shots on target without scoring goals, bit of luck needed,bit of finishing training perhaps. but it will all come together imo

now we have posters saying tudgay cant finish, its getting a bit silly

We will score six or more soon in one game, when every shot just goes in, god help league one when we get a bit of luck with our shots

The only weakness i see in murphy and kent is the final shot. Murphy likes to put his laces through everything and give it the full Paul Scholes trying to smash it top corner, and kent has had a few 1 v 1's with keeper thats he's cocked up, could be the lack of experience he's had in these positions, but it'll come with time

Any team we play that uses a stifeling tactic is always going to be rubbish, Shrewsbury tried for the first 20 minutes but as soon as their forwards stopped coming back into midfield to stop our supply they struggled and we should have had a cricket score. I watched Burton an they seem to work very hard for about 80 minutes and if they have not nicked a goal before then it invariably ends in a draw. Jimmy Floyd has done a good job with them

In his first few games callum wilson missed a few chances including one-on-ones with the goalkeeper. He learnt !!
