Its a stupid thing for him to say, it's akin to blackmail. He did say wouldn't talk without legal action dropped.

But then this is where we were around the time of the move to Northampton, isn't it! Surely *somebody* can be prepared to mediate?!?

Should invite the council and ACL to an SCG meeting. Be interesting to see how they answer questions and how Anderson or Fisher respond, when they're in a room with each other rather than firing out comments in the press. Not like the relationship could get much worse!

That's the thing, with them all on the spot.

It would be interesting to find out who from CCC leaked that email to the Observer. What was their agenda in doing that??

I do find it surprising that all this was only leaked last week, considering I was told over a year ago now we was in early dialogue with the Butts and believe I even posted it on here at one stage.

I remember being told and laughing about it though now its not so funny.

Correct the Rugby club leaked the news first which is interesting.

There seems to be a thought that SISU are taking legal action for the greater good and that's the purpose .................. even that its prime purpose is to benefit CCFC................

But the email was sent to Cov Rugby....it was sent from the Council wasn't it? That's the way I read it.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Surely it was Cov Rugby who leaked it as they had received it?

Oh right, yeah, I get it now. I read it wrong...I read it that someone from the council had leaked the email that was sent to Cov Rugby...as in that there was a potential mole within the council ranks!

I know people say the BPA project and the court cases should not be linked and its a reasonable argument but

There may be some point in the BPA project that needs the goodwill of the council say infrastructure improvements and aggressive statements about further court action possibly for years to come do not help that. Not only that but I suspect CCC do not receive their claim for costs until the court action is over and whilst it continues then further cost is incurred. Once the costs have been "taxed" then they wont receive back 100% in any case. Would be hard not to feel less than inclined to be helpful.

A referral to the European Court could take years and even after that is settled there is the prospect of JR2

If this were a battle between businesses you might feel it sensible to make an offer to make it go away.

Talking to them should not be linked.

You never know, if they spoke they might find common ground that meant court cases went away naturally, organically anyway.

Whilst I agree with you. It's the cities football team that has been here since 1883. The same team who united the City under Jimmy Hill and an FA cup triumph. The council should rise above it, their elected representatives who should have the good of the city in mind. Irrelevant of personal differences. SISU don't help themselves but nor do the council. As been mentioned before it would be interesting if we secured promotion, what the council response would be. What SISU's response would be. Would there be open top bus parade through the City? Past the council house? Would Reeves, Maton, Mutton and Lucas be there celebrating? How would that go down with fans? I don't know if the council have done anything wrong legally. Their behaviour and attitude though causes concern and therefore I think it should be looked into. The ethics committee don't work so the only place really to solve it is court, unfortunately.

Would be great to have an open debate through the SCG with JS, TF, CA and the council though. Would be far easier to see who was telling the truth in person.

Do you think the aim is to make the council seem as if they're trying to be helpful or not seem helpful? I know what I think.....

I think both are succeeding in making it look like CCC is not helpful as it stands.

CCC keep putting their foot in it. What they should have said was for representatives of the club to come talk to them, they were not committing to anything other than talk. That's irrespective of the court cases. I can see why they might think not but I think that gives the initiative to SISU

SISU are much more skilled at manipulation than people give them credit for. They are trying to back CCC in to a corner, and are setting up a fall guy for if the project does not work out. This out pouring is designed to garner public support against CCC when in actual fact the first step to the BPA project would be an outline planning application. Test the commitment on all sides.

My questions still come back to why the project and why now? Why the push to get it done? Has always been about the investors before why has that apparently changed? has it changed? are there other pressures at work?

Really? To be honest I'm not sure what SISU could possibly do to garner support against CCC. There seems pretty much unconditional support for CCC regardless of what they do against the club. Reminds of the bit in Blackadder:

I remember Massingbird's most famous case, the case of the bloody knife.
A man was found next to a murdured body, he had the knife in his hand,
thirteen witnesses that seen him stab the victim, when the police
arrived he said, "I'm glad I killed the bastard." Massingbird not
only got him off, but he got him knighted in the New Year's Honors
list, and the relatives of the victim had to pay to have the blood
washed out of his jacket.

Well I think we have many many years of court case and appeals to look forward to, maybe even the next decade of this fighting.

I'm truly sick to death of it ,and we the fans are the only ones who suffer, its really hard to contemplate having to go through many more years of this shite, how many fans will we have left in maybe ten years time, a lot less than we have now ,and we would have lost the next generation of fans as local disillusioned fathers and mothers point their sons and daughters away from the club to go and support Leicester, Birmingham ,Villa or any of the big boys.
For gods sake HR2 will be up and running by the time we finish these court cases, I want us away from the Ricoh, but can you imagine how many of us will be left by the time this shite ends.
Forget the Fans you just keep on fighting, cant someone from each side at grab the bull by the horns and at least open some dialogue between them

FWIW (not much!) I can't help but feel that actually,. those directly at the club are fairly sane. There's enough to suggest that just whenever they get to a position of maybe moving things along, the powerbroker steps in with some brutalising...

I get the similar feeling to that . So in reality it isn't CA we should be listening to or questioning because he simply does have the power to complete the deals

The council shouldn't block the football club on any new stadium adventure
Other than if they genuinely have no option planning permission wise.
However I were them I would ask another council to assess any planning permission application made by SISU.
In the current climate that would be the fairest thing to do.
(Aside that we should be starting with 18k and have the potential to rise to 30k)

Everyone (well... most ) who meets Fisher quite likes him, it seems. That suggests he at least has the personality to make deals happen, too. There were a couple of interesting suggestions cropped up on here from fairly reputable sources that suggest Fisher himself would have done things a little differently too.

So all in all, we kind of tend to shoot the messengers. There's only one person in charge, and it's since they started taking more of an interest in this irritation that is CCFC, that things have gone... interesting in the extreme.
