Guess they mean depends on how the word is used. You probably couldn't have AFC Coventry City as people would drop the AFC and you'd have two teams called the same thing. City of Coventry AFC or something like that would be OK.
Personally I'd keep it simple and just go for AFC Coventry. Quite like Coventry Phoenix but it is moving away from traditional type names and into Hull Tigers territory.
What was their reasoning for that, because a Coventry City currently exists?
"didn't think we could", sounds as if they aren't sure of their own rules or legal standing ... otherwise, would they not surely say you can or you can't? The FA sound about as competent as the FL.
Sorry, that was my poor wording, he seemed sure enough, we didnt mention "city of coventry" but we would have to be very careful about names, copywrite, trademark issues etc.
To me we are not at the stage of having to start another club just yet, but if we ever are I will put myself forward for the GK position. I may be getting on a bit now, but I am not much older than Oggy was when he was still playing and have never failed in any trial for any club I have had.
