The game was won. We don’t know MR’s reasoning behind the decision. With a game four days later maybe he chose to rest Simms. He did the same to Gyok a couple of times when he was on a hat trick.Players have good and bad games. We took off the player having the better game. Godden didn't do much after Simms went off. Do you still count taking off Simms instead of Godden was the right call?
It's almost like I have already given you two likely reasons and said that Robins might also be aware of other reasons that we don't know of as fans. But Simms hadn't stopped running and you could see the disappointment on his face. He didn't look at all as though he is running out of gas.
All I can think....and it makes sense.....is he wants Godden to show them the way he wants them to play. My point is why take someone off who is making things happen for someone instead of someone who is a goal poacher when we already have a healthy lead. The pressure was taken off them at the back. We didn't need to score again but we needed them to be occupied by a 6'3" lump up front. The sub took the pressure off them a bit and allowed them to come at us more.
It isn't saying Simms is better than Godden. It's an observation on how the game went.
They wired in the earth cable after all thenThere's no shock on the bench
Is there anything pleasant, though? They wired in the earth cable after all then
Szmodics the main man to keep quiet.View attachment 32020Don’t wanna jinx it but that’s a pretty sub par 11 they’ve put out. We’ve gone unchanged no surprises there.
Only problem I see is getting the ball to themThey’ve switched to 3 at the back. They are not comfortable playing out from the back at all. Also, I would like to think we will be a threat from corners today, superior height advantage…bar Dasilva. Lati, Simms, Thomas, Binks and Fadz should be competing in the box.
Nope I can't see Who maybe he's not been pickedWho’s on our bench?
The substitutes.Who’s on our bench?
Putting that against Simms getting a hat-trick?Simms was probably subbed ahead of Godden because a) Godden's atch fitness is currently higher and he can last the full 90, and b) if you're down on confidence, coming off to get the applause all to yourself after a couple of goals is probably no bad thing!
And many aren't...One of those subs where many of us are left scratching our heads over.
Werthers originals for McFadzean? Is there anything pleasant, though?
I have said this before, but some substitutions will be physiological data based.Putting that against Simms getting a hat-trick?
One of those subs where many of us are left scratching our heads over. Great manager but his subs are frequently questionable.
It's not a huge leap to make the assumption anyway is it, given he was openly behind the desired standard start of the season, blew hard against Huddersfield come the second half... and has other games to play going forward for which he needs to be in the best condition possible.I have said this before, but some substitutions will be physiological data based.
Put that against he has never taken Godden off this season. The game was won. We don’t know MR’s reasoning behind the decision. With a game four days later maybe he chose to rest Simms. He did the same to Gyok a couple of times when he was on a hat trick.
Also it has been said he is quite a shy reserved lad so to get taken off early he gets a rousing reception off the fansIt's not a huge leap to make the assumption anyway is it, given he was openly behind the desired standard start of the season, blew hard against Huddersfield come the second half... and has other games to play going forward for which he needs to be in the best condition possible.
I think it might just be time to let it lie.Put that against he has never taken Godden off this season.
The game was won as you say. A perfect time for Simms and Wright together for the first time. Which brings me back to my original point. Should we wait until Godden gets an injury before we play Wright and Simms together?
And yet again this isn't me saying either are better than Godden. But can anyone name a better time to play Wright and Simms together than when one of them has just scored twice and the other is about to come on when winning the game is quite safe?
Whenever teams play their back-up keepers against us they always have worldies. This apparently shit keeper looks pretty sharp in the warm up
Peaked too soon, it'll be fine. This apparently shit keeper looks pretty sharp in the warm up
I agree with that but my point was we as fans don’t know the reasoning behind the decision. I suggested MAYBE to rest SimmsPut that against he has never taken Godden off this season.

Putting that against two strikers that will have to play together for the first time if and when Godden is injured?I think it might just be time to let it lie.
I don't disagree. But as you say a MAYBE.I agree with that but my point was we as fans don’t know the reasoning behind the decision. I suggested MAYBE to rest Simms
