Chris Anderson's notes - few interesting comments in there.

'For us, the trick is to spend wisely and find the right mix of youth and experience, warriors and artists, loans and permanent signings. We are pleased to have added Vladimir Ghadhzev, Jodi Jones, Marvin Sordell, and Kyel Reid to our permanent ranks, and the loan window will continue to be an option we can utilise this transfer window to strengthen the squad.'

To me that sounds like loans only from now on.

There's absolutely nothing in that paragraph that could reasonably lead you to draw that assumption.

He talks about a mix of loans and permanent signings. Immediately lists the permanent signings made and then specifically says 'the loan window will continue to be an option we can utilise this transfer window to strengthen the squad'

If the loan window is 'an option' it implies that CA believes there are other options, so he isn't saying just loans, is he?

Isn't he only listing the permanent signings we have made because they are the only permanent signings we've made?

Think it would b entirely wrong of him to list players we haven't signed yet wouldn't it. ;)

That must explain why we are in talks with at least three other players to sign permanent deals

I'm just being paranoid I guess! Really don't understand why he makes a point of mentioning the loan window rather than saying something more generic about strengthening the squad.

Yep but emphasising one doesn't discount the other.

Who cares whether it's loan or permanent signing - as long as they're good!!

Well... I'd rather we didn't have this here tension of not having a team every close season.

Signings on more than a year contract would be nice. We've had some... it'd be nice to have more!

(Plus it reassures me the club won't be wound up at the end of the season!!)

There's a balance to be found - imagine if we'd signed Henderson or Ramage on 2yr deals.

That said I would rather some things are done earlier - it's a bit like we are shopping late at night for those massive bargains at the reduced counter.

But then if we'd had a full squad already in place, there'd have been less panic to rush out for the likes of Henderson and Ramage. It's the short-termism that causes them to rock up in the first place.

If there is one good thing about loan signings, it's that they can't be robbed and sold for pittance from under our noses. That quite sickeningly comforts me.

The club could still be wound up at the end of the season regardless!

Cheers...

And yes, well aware of that! But it does at least suggest an indication of a desire to plan beyond the end of the season.

No it doesn't, loans are an option and can be an option once the transfer window is shut.

That is what I read it as, no more perm signings this window. We'll see.

tbf, find me a club who doesn't want the best squad they can get with the perfect blend...

Of course it's all vacuous bollocks until it actually happens (or doesn't!)

Thing is other organisations get lambasted on here for "PR" ????????????

I'll happily say I won't believe a word CCFC say until it actually happens.

Thing is... I'd apply that to just about everybody!

Being cynical is usually to be right...

I dont mind loans but don't give me any of this bullshit that TM is building a team for the future.
It seems every year we start again from scratch.

Care to change this statement? Harries on long term contract. Turnbull on a three year deal. Sordell for two years. People not being signed unless they are good enough to allow our own youngsters to progress to the first team. Is that not long term thinking/planning?

Just about to edit to add Jones. I think it's looking good personally. Sure Italia will think of something else though.

Sorry if this has been mentioned above but I found it very disingenuous that he talked up the number of academy players in the first team at the moment....that's the case mainly because our transfer strategy, assuming we have one, has gone badly wrong and we've good no feckin choice.

Venus annoyed me tonight in the press release about the new CB. "We've identified centre back in as a main area to prioritise recruitment" - glad to see that his 6-figure salary buys a level of insight lost on us mere mortals.
