I don’t disagree generally. But on Bassette I’ve got to admit he’s got that dog in him and that’s rare in this squad and I’d like to see him getting at least the level of cameo Tavares enjoyed prior to this season.

Yeah, I worry when we have players like Tavares and Ponticelli who achieve almost mythical status by some (certainly a lot of the callers on CWR) just because they perform well in the U21's/reserves, but Bassette does seem to have more about him.
Good hungry option from the bench, but don't think he's ready for a starting place just yet
Having just watched the goals from the other night, two of them came from his harrying and pressing (and shit defending/goalkeeping) which is something we miss with Simms leading the line so no wonder there is some clamour to give him some minutes in the first team.
Looking at those goals I think the only logical conclusion is that Birmingham's academy manager got the 2 and 1 the wrong way round when reading the fixture list and fielded their u12s.
I think what is clear and worth remembering is that Bassette himself despite costing a reasonable sum of money is only 19 and is clearly leagues ahead of most 19 year olds. Looks like a year 11 playing against a nursery team.
