When they were down and out and had 10k watching them my mates were there so I wouldn't call them plastic, would you?. Now they are successful they are more of an attraction. How many were at the Ricoh last season and how many would be there if we had a billionaire tycoon and were high up the premiership table and filling the Ricoh? Would that make to the other 20k plastic fans at the Ricoh?

Yes it would. Your mates may be an exception but the vast majority of people walking round in Chelsea shirts are in it for the glory.
Ok, but so what. If they were sleeper fans and they have come out now they have success, who cares. I would love us to be in the PL with a rich backer bringing success on the pitch and a full house at the Ricoh, would I care if the bloke next to me hadn't been to a game when we were in L1, no is my answer because I just want us to do well and I am sure that is the case for millions of other fans around the country. The fact that you don't see some fans when times are bad doesn't bother me as I have far bigger things to trouble me than that.
Not saying it keeps me awake at night, just simply saying that it annoys me seeing people walk around Coventry for instance with their United or Chelsea shirts on because these folk quite clearly are glory hunters.
You say you live in Scotland (I think). Do you wear you Cov top around there? Point is we can choose to support who we want and to be honest, is it not the responsibility of CCFC to put a product out on the pitch that makes everyone from Cov and the surrounding areas want to follow.
In the seventies you had blokes walking around Coventry wearing Chelsea,Liverpool,Man United tops it's nothing new at all.
I used to get stick in pubs and at work for wearing my Cov City shirt, why don't you support a top club etc etc ?
What I have got and others like me who have stuck with the City is loyalty, someone who follows a club because they are a so called "big" club wouldn't know what that is.
It's less that and more the movement of cash away from the majority to the small minority that's the issue for me.
We pay silly wages and silly transfer fees for players that are way above our price range because of the Premier League's distorting effect on player expectations.

Which is the bigger outrage:
Wayne Rooney on £300,000/week or David Bell on £5,000/week?
David Bell all day long. Rooney probably earns something like that in value and image rights for Man Utd. David Bell probably cost us money each week he was here.
Some superstars are genuinely worth movie star wages, but it's nothing to do with footballing ability in most cases.

For me Rooney (although Bell grossly overpaid) gets 50% more in a year than our entire turnover in the championship.

Irrelevant. What does he make for Man Utd? His image rights alone are worth close to that much.
It's not irrelevant in a thread discussing how the PL and money it brings has helped ruin the game. Plus Rooney gets paid image rights on top of his £300k a week salary.
