From what I've seen of his recent solo gigs, they are a sorry state of affairs. Great songs though.
My first concert was Deep PurpleWhat is/was everyone’s first, last, favourite and next concert? Mine are:
First Concert: Little Mix
Last Concert: Thomas Headon
Best Concert: Harry Styles
Next Concert: Mimi Webb
My first concert was Deep Purple
Last one, The Editors
Best one, probably the Cocteau Twins
Next one, Depeche Mode
Yup. I was very young. I think I was 10 or 11. Coventry Theatre 1972 I think.Where did you see Deep Purple? Gillan I assume?
It was 1970, just looked it up. So it was either late 1970 I went to see them, or early 1971Where did you see Deep Purple? Gillan I assume?
It's been Free Radio'd, not bothering this year but am looking forward to Lloyd Cole in October.Very underwhelming overall I think.
I was hoping Devo would choose the Godiva for one of their very last gigs, but seems they chose the O2 in London instead.
I will still go to the festival, but I am not as excited as I usually am.
Seen so many good bands there over the years. Ash, Buzzcocks, Fun Lovin Criminals, Human League, Echo and the Bunnymen, Biffy Clyro, Kasabian, Mercury Rev, Super Furry Animals, Happy Mondays.
I always vaguely enjoyed the fact that SAHB reformed years after Alex Harvey had died.the Sensational Alex Harvey Band.
Ah yes, I remember. Wonder what they were like without the great man himself.I always vaguely enjoyed the fact that SAHB reformed years after Alex Harvey had died.
Geezer from the Shamen did the vocals!
First - New Order/Happy Mondays/ACR Gmex Manchester in 1988
Last -Half man half biscuit in leamington 2 weeks ago
Best- Either New Order Reading festival in 1993, Dinosaur Jr at the hummingbird in 1992/93 or the Jesus and Mary chain at Northampton roadmenders a couple of years ago.
Next -peter hook and the light at the assembly rooms in Leamington

I can’t listen to the Stone Roses anymore…This is funny though
Can’t remember think who I saw first or pick a fave but saw Pixies at the forum in Brum the other week. Seen them a few times but this was possibly the best.First - New Order/Happy Mondays/ACR Gmex Manchester in 1988

I was probably at that same Clash gig as you, Pitts.First - The Clash at the Locarno Coventry
Last -Death Cab for Cutie last night at The Roundhouse in London
Best- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at All Points East last year
Next -Midlake at Oslo Hackney in June
Sticking to the Coventry part of the thread.
First - The Damned at the Lanch
Last - Godspeed! You Black Emperor at the Empire
Best - Too many the mention...Possibly the Mary Chain on the Riot tour (Lanch again), supported by The Shop Assistants and Fuzzbox. I'm convinced the Mary Chain played for about twenty minutes, and played one song twice.
Also, a band called Vagabond Joy, upstairs at the Campbell
Also, Mogwai at the New Cathedral (doing the Atomic show)
Also, the two quid show at the Lanch for Oasis, more in hindsight, although you could tell the lead singer had star quality: even then.
Next - Suns of Rest at the Tin Angel, down the canal basin this Friday.
Really enjoyed it, exactly what you'd expect sound and vision wise.Mogwai were brilliant. What were Godspeed like?
Has Brian Kilcline joined the band?
Surely The Killers?Has Brian Kilcline joined the band?
Was that before Malcolm Owen's death?great threadin Coventry by far the best was the Stones at the CBS
however some great Coventry memories - Dr Feelgood at the Tik Tok - saw Lee Brilleaux in the pub opposite - The Ruts in that house along the Walsgrave road where the band seemed to be playing in the front room
Mmm this would have been 86Was that before Malcolm Owen's death?
Babylon is Burning is a truly fabulous track and probably my favourite punk song from that era.
