Originally we were overwhelmingly City fans and only started to go when we moved to Northampton. Then we only went when CCFC were playing away.Gradually we realised we enjoyed going to the Butts far more than going to CCFC. We found the Ricoh atmosphere was toxic and we were just going out of habit, the Butts by contrast was a great positive experience with a winning and entertaining team. Last year even though we had season tickets at the Ricoh near the end we chose to pay and watch Cov Rugby even though CCFC were at home.
Now we haven't been to a single home game at the Ricoh and tbh we don't miss it at all, and when you hear the fan's reaction on the radio on the way home.we feel relieved we have finally broken away. Would never support another football club, and will always want CCFC to do well, but the 'events' over the past 10 years ago have driven me and thousands of other fans away. Went to Grimsby early season and tbf it was a decent day out, but it seems we were very lucky, as after watching us at Barnet on Sky it seems that this is largely the quality fans are having to endure most weeks.
That's not quite true, you can do a bit of both. The BPA experience is far superior at the moment and a damn site better value day all round. I still prefer a good game of football on a really good day but how often is that going to happen in League 2. To me one Cov team looks on the up and is a positive experience............and the other one taken hostage by a fucked up spiteful hedge fund seems doomed for more mediocrity and angry reactions.Yeah you either stick with it or fuck off I suppose.

I have had stewards at the City say 'enjoy the game' on many occasions.Agree totally, the matchday 'experience' at the Ricoh played as bigger part to me not renewing my ST as much as the on pitch shambles.
Maybe I'm being precious but having someone who speaks rudely to me with no manners wanting to pat me down and when asked what they're looking for replying "I dunno" over a guy doing the same job (steward) but with common sense (not having to pat me down) welcoming me to the BPA saying "enjoy your day" both happening by people in the same job and both on the arrival at the venue, which one do I want to visit again and bring my young son to in a couple of ears ermmm Coventry RFC every time I'm afraid. As the weeks tick by the less and less likely (even takeover pending....) I see myself returning to CCFC in the same capacity as before.
I know a decent number of others who feel the same and I think I'm one of the later ones to jumping off the CCFC ship.
Anyway enough of a ramble/rant from me.
Onto CRFC breaking the club record consecutive wins tomorrow!
Fair play, I'm sure I've had the same but my abiding memory will be from the last couple of seasons will be the hostile nature, I purposely used to head for the more local stewards (usually green or blue jackets) as they would sort of smile maybe check my ST and in hope the orange coated ones wouldn't have to go through their power trip 8/10 times they would.I have had stewards at the City say 'enjoy the game' on many occasions.
What a great day all round for the City of Coventry !Won 40-7 conceded late on.
Results went in Covs favour today so the gap at the top will be extended.
Terrible day! They let a try in. Boooooo!!!What a great day all round for the City of Coventry !
Terrible day! They let a try in. Boooooo!!!
Trusting your maths here as the BBC website still only shows half the results let alone any league tables. So the points advantage is now up to 7with CRFC on 44 followed DMP on 37.
Do we have good cover?Good news, bad news for Caldy game – Coventry Rugby
Massive blow for Cov, Heath Stevens breaking his leg in training last night, very key player!
Do we have good cover?
Yep, spotted that. He looks a good acquisition.Big old squad but he's probably in the top 5 key players.
Has been captain for a fair few games this season so obviously a good leader and bloke to have in the squad.
Good scrum half signed on loan from Northampton to cover that position for 2 months as there has been an injury curse in that position this season!
Looks like we are fortunate to have a hefty squad and the replacements will hopefully slot in seamlessly. Another potential banana skin today with Caldy unproven at this level and slow starters in their games so far. Hopefully we can dictate in the scrum right from the start and our overall game management over 80 mins will bring another 5 points. As you said, given that the City are playing tomorrow and with Cov on a long unbeaten run and clear at the top, maybe hopeful of a 1500+ crowd? The injury levels even at this scale of Rugby are crazy and you need a hefty squad to keep progressing. It all costs money though, so with City playing tomorrow I hope CRFC get a boost to their crowd today. The weather is predicted to pick up this afternoon with sunny intervals and at £15 for adults and under 16's free it makes for an affordable live sporting event !
C'mon Cov !
Yes I'd be disappointed with anything less than 1500 with us playing so well and City not playing. I'm going for nearer 1750 and a home win !! Fingers crossed !Looks like we are fortunate to have a hefty squad and the replacements will hopefully slot in seamlessly.
