Crewe fan scared to death... (1 Viewer)

Funny old game..

Reading your forum.. One minute your up for it, next your out... Same with us really!

What Crewe do well is going to bigger clubs when they aren't expected to do anything and get a shock result.. What we do badly is being at home when the pressure is on... I've not even looked at the date of the final.. I know how we can mess things up! A few years back we were 2-1 in the area final second leg with 5mins to go and lost 3-2... Oh feck..

I think we will play exactly the same.. And that's what scares me.. Have we had all our luck..I would say so.. Your defence is shaky, but ours can buckle don't you worry.. For those of you that haven't been to Gresty road before then you'll have all down one side, and likely all behind one goal.. We will have the cold main stand and the kids will be behind the other goal.. It can be intimidating when your not used to it... This group of players aren't.. As your be the first club to have the full allocation with this current team..

I see you scoring first, early, then another goal before half time... 2-0 then it's up in the air.. That's when the star will come into play.. AJ will go off and Clayton will come on, he's super fast, super confident and clinical.. That's when the battle will happen... Will your defence cope with his pace? Will we brick it...

My heart says we will scrape a 1-1 or 1-2 my head says.... Fu ck me if we were to mess this up... We can.. We will... Or is it different under Davis.... ..?

First goal is going to be crucial. You score first and it is game over.

We go 1-0 up and I think you may get a little nervous. We are much better away from home than at the Ricoh, so I think that gives us all a little hope.

Otis is absolutely correct.....you score first and it is game over. However, I have a feeling that we will in which case it is very much game on.

nice to see a graceful fan. unlike the twats that have been on here since tuesday. agreed, if we score one inside first 10, maybe, just maybe

Its been a while since I've been very optimistic about coming back from a beating like we had off you guys. Purely because I've seen the comeback more than once this season . Away from home....that's our comfort zone my friend. Game is most definitely on.good post btw.

Yeah nice post. I have all belief in this current team. The amount of comebacks compared to yester years has been happening more. Maybe 3-0 is a big ask but away from home...i dunno theres a chance!!

Ignore the kids!..

I was thinking, if Clayton starts its likely that we will go for the surprise and try and boss the first 15 to nick a goal... But Jesus that's scary! Our keeper, he's decent but can flap at crosses.. He has games like Tuesday maybe twice a season! Look on you tube for our goals viro and against Southend away in the playoffs.. They sum us up.. AJ great player with a great touch, Clayton, pace and clinical.. Their first keeper flaps at a cross then there second our heads went.. We don't have Powell for that bit of unpredictability lost west to villa but murthy in midfield can play the killer ball for Clayton...

Remember, your not going to old Trafford 3 down your going to Gresty road.. Football, no game like it huh!.. Great clip on you tube of our third... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIFz01tk3Hw

We are behind the goal, row F which I think might even be the back row? Can't wait for it. Early goal from us and you never know.

Hate the clip for what it shows but at 52 seconds there is a fabulous moment of silence as everyone watches before exploding when they score - priceless video!!

Its gonna be a good game pal. I say 3-1 City. We're much better away and you dont get any fake fans going away games so you'll see the REAL sky blue army in action, and believe me, last time i went to an away game, i didnt speak proerly for 4 days hahaha

I can understand the nerves - all the expectation really is on Crewe now as you are expected to see it through from this position. I think Id be thinking the same thing about the luck as well, wondering if we had used it all up in the first leg. But you really should see it home from here. As much as I want to try and convince myself otherwise I just cant.

Cheers for the post though, nice to be able to look at it from the other side (from a mature opposition supporter which we havent seen much of since Tuesday night!). Question for you - are you always that clinical on the counter attack, or did Tuesday come completely out of the blue on that front? As we will be throwing everything at it the next leg my biggest fear isnt whether we can score three goals, its about how many we will let in at the other end over committing against a team that look deadly on the break.

Just read that you guys think that the JPT is below you, from what I saw on Tuesday.. Absolutely.. Fans and a premier league stadium to go with it.. Your at a point where your embarrassed to be in this competition. I can see why.. However, we are at a point where I've wanted to be for so long, I'd love us to win something other than the play off final.. As a football club, for what we have achieved we deserve it.. I've wanted this cup since stoke and vale won it in the 90s... It's our fa cup and the championship is our PL..

You guys aren't really bothered about the JPT.. So could you just rest some players.. If we can win the cup game you can have 3pts in the league! Deal.... .?! We won't go up or down but you might!

Over the last 12 months we've had 3 players come through that have stood out more than any other at any point.. Powell has gone to Man U for £6 M the other two are Clayton and AJ.. They have there off days, but I have to say, give them 2 chances and they will get one.. So most of the time we are yes... Usually Clayton comes on with 20 to go and runs rings.. If Powell is worth £6 the club have officially said that AJ and Clayton are even better prospects and DG has said Clayton is the best player we have ever had at his age and experience. We have fast youthful players so we do play to hit teams on the break, so we played exactly how I'd thort we would on Tuesday... I think it will be the same again from us.. So not out of the blue at all, sorry..

One things in our favour I really think is MR... He doesn't know how to play against us.. Experienced managers no if they play football it lets us play and we can then compete and have a great chance of beating anyone... Teams like Notts County have always come to our place and kicked us to death... That always works, we have skinny, light players for the most part.. We don't like rough play.. Ocationally when we have a good protective ref it back fires, but not often.. If I was MR I'd be saying get into um, play dirty, get in thir face and kick um off the park.., send high balls into the box and appeal for everything and play the innocent card...

PS I like going to boards of other clubs you get a good understanding of how we are viewed... And normally a good reaction.. It's also knowing that when you bring on a sub if you guys are thinking... Oh shit, he's shit whys he brining him on or finally, now we'll score... Don't get that on our home boards! also you don't get 1000s of readers....! A few 10s ha...

That's not CCFC, we aren't some dirty hoofball team (since AB left) like PNE who try to bully you, we try and play football, so we're probably fucked.

None of our players are them sort of players really, except Cameron, no one messes with Cameron, he's built like a rugby player... Coming from a rugby player!

Then let the best footballing team win! Hold on errrr no... Let the luckiest team win, again!... I'm starting to feel like I'm racing usain bolt, but starting from half way, looking back and thinking, surly he can't win... Can he!

cheers for that mate, much appreciated.

That kind of confirms my fear then - if Tuesday wasnt a fluke and you are generally good on the counter attack then we are in trouble. think how much we are going to be pressing, its gonna leave alot of space at the back for your lot. I would assume your manager is just gonna say sit back and hit them on the break, and if we are playing Edge and Wood then the pace is going to kill us.

If you were to be concerned about one thing it should be that we have scored the most goals away from home in the league (29). having said that - alot of those were from David Mcgoldrick and he has now gone. Where as with him here I would have felt very confident we could get 1/2/3 or even more goals - currently our main guy is Leon Clarke and he is more hit and miss. if he takes a chance early maybe you have cause for concern then, because he seems to be a confidence player.

In terms of style of play, I can see us being fired up certainly but I dont see us being a 'kick you around' type team, even in the second leg. We are probably quite similar to you on that front. Interesting what you say about the competition too - to us I think we are desperate for Wembley. The JPT itself is fine, we will take it, but more as the thing that could get us to Wembley, which we have been waiting 26 years for now. Interesting what you say about it actually meaning a lot to you as a trophy - fair play. If you do knock us out I will be hoping you can pull it off after hearing that - but of course, I still hope you dont get the chance ;)

Also - personally I thought the Crewe fans were excellent on Tuesday night. They were a section especially towards the top of the stand who didnt seem to stop cheering and bouncing from about 20 mins onwards. I fully believe you will be equally impressed with our fans in the return leg - we have in my opinion, amazing away fans (speaking as someone who has experienced the away end with a number of other teams in comparison). one things for sure, if we dont make it to Wembley it wont be for lack of passion and noise from the travelling SBA.

I'm still in shock after Tuesday, your keeper stopped three or four certain goals,

what we have been good at this season is not giving up and coming back strong,
hopefully it was a bad day at the office and we'll make a game of it up at yours.

may the best team win and good luck to whoever prevails

But just look how far we've come.

There are quite a lot of people on here saying we can do it. This is not the City thinking of old. Not the City we all remember. 3 goals down and it would be game over for all of us in the past.

Just see how far we have now come this season under Mark Robins and this new found belief. See how many are saying we can turn this round!

I honestly think we will do it and pull the 3 goals back. Would never have thought that under any other manager or indeed for many, many years.

You should have more faith Macca rather than just be chucking in the towel now. How do you know it won't happen? We scored 3 at MK Dons, 4 at York in the cup, 4 at Doncaster and 5 at Hartlepool.

Of course we can do it. Tough, but by no means impossible.

Keep the faith. In Robins we trust. I am quietly confident we can do it.

I'm not saying it will happen, but I do think we are capable of grabbing 3 at Gresty Road. However, I fear we will let in 1 as we nearly always concede. So the question is: Can we get 4?

And thanks for your views SimonCAFC - interesting reading.

I agree that it is ggod to hear from a decent fan visiting our forum.

Thanks for your commnts Simon.

With the game not being on Sky now and not getting tickest I am going to avoid the match like the plague (prepare myself for the expected non-existent comeback) and just check the result at 10:30pm and then ....

who knows?

If we were a goal down I'd be fairly confident, but at 3-0 I think we're looking for a consolation second-leg win and exit at best.

Sadly I think we would have been capable of grabbing 3 with David McG in the team but not likely now, we may win 2-1 but we are not as formidable as we were.

We're not embarrassed to be in this competition, a trip to wembley is on the line. We havent been there for 26 years. The JPT is a great competition and we do care, but we want to get back to The Championship more than anything. Just cus we want promotion more, doesnt mena we dont care about the JPT. Good luck for the rets of the nseasona nd thanks for the flattering comments about our great club, but we want this win and its gonna be a cracking game

I believe we can do something at your place,3 goals is within our grasp as long as your keeper stops playing like his family will be done for if he concedes.
I have had all the jokes about the JPT from my work colleagues but its a fine competition and more importantly a vehicle for getting to Wembley,we are in the third tier of English football so the FA and League cup are mere brief encounters.

PS Is the cup really a paint tin as my work colleagues state ?

Yeah I'm slightly worried too knowing our club the way I do, we are the kings of capitulation and self-destruction at times so I'm just praying we don't fuck this one up like the doncaster final a few years back. We've got Nathan Ellington on trial at the moment though so hopefully he still has something to offer and we can sign him up before the return leg.

Crewe have`nt lost at home by more than 4 goals in years so don`t worry, it is`nt going to happen in the 2nd leg, Coventry`s need to attack will leave gaps open which we can exploit , we`ll score at least 1 more goal which will finish the tie, its over IMO!
