They've been on a great run. He has been described as a 'man mountain' for them - had been captain, until contract talks broke down (runs out end of season). If we lose Willis /Davies, might be a good option?

Great player. Was excellent at Plymouth previously, and he was their youngest ever captain if memory serves. Wouldn't say he's a 'man mountain' as he's pretty average height for a CB, standing at around 6"0, although saying that I've heard he's pretty strong. The only issue is his injury record over the last two seasons isn't the best. Although that could be down to simple bad luck rather than being 'injury prone'. Good suggestion though, would be a great replacement if Willis were to leave as they seem to be in a roughly similar mould, especially with regards to their athleticism. Plus we'll need leaders if we're looking to carry on the momentum of this season and achieve promotion next year.
Not a bad shout but does he fit in with the recruitment plan? The “established” players we bought in the summer have not really worked out? JCH Ogogo, Brown etc. I’d probably exclude Chaplin as I think he will come good.
The point about "established players" is a good one. Note in particular the "Shrewsbury Two". Does Robins have problems with older players. So far only Doyle and Kelly have prospered. He does seem to like working with the more pliable younger players. Could be a weakness.

I think on the whole MR finds particular issue with a player's attitude rather than their age. He seems to have a no-nonsense approach towards those who either negative, moan or have a chip on their shoulder. Hence why the likes of JCH and Brown were unpopular/out of favour but Doyle and Kelly are popular/in favour. So age hasn't really got anything to do with it
Perhaps he's so harsh on the likes of Brown, for instance, because if a player sulks and he's young, that can be excused for immaturity, but if a 20-something player or older is exerting a negative attitude when not picked then you can argue that's actually just unprofessional.
