Dasilva is never going to be a regular starter at left back as he is often targeted by the opposition as the weakest link in the Coventry team due to his lack of height, lack of speed and poor positioning.

He has 2 and a half years left on his contract and there are unlikely to be any interested clubs in the Championship as they are all well aware of his weaknesses, which make him a liability as a left back
His best option would be to move to a club in Europe or the US where his physical limitations would not be as much of a factor as they are in the Championship but if his agent or the club are unable to find a buyer for him, maybe the club should explore the possibility of retraining him for a different position?

As Dasilva has some good technical attributes could he be effective in another position?
If so, what position would be best for him?

Always felt it weird that he's considered as a left back. Totally unsuited to it.

Could imagine him better playing centre mid in a possession-based side. Not sure he could do it in a league like the Championship though.

He's a wing back but lacks the pace and strength to play left back.

He’s a wingback. Struggles in a left back due to his height and pace.

If I was going to move him into a different position, I’d have his as a back up left winger (on the assumption EMC will start with Wright down the centre).

He is a superb left wing back , in a back five. Cannot be a left back in a 4. ..but a great sub , as a. Left winger..Harshly abused by commments

Is he superb as LWB?? I mean I’m sure I’ll have seen him play there. I don’t remember ever thinking that of him, semi-final withstanding.
Having said that, if he were taller I think he’d be great…but he isn’t, so he’s not.

I don`t think many people would rate Dasilva as a superd wingback. He is a decent wingback at this level but he will always be the weakest link in the defence and it is clear that Lampard wants to play 4-2-3-1 when EMC and Wright are fit.

He is likely to be on a relatively high wage and as he is unlikely to play at regularly left back and has 2 and a half years left on his contract, it might be worth the club looking to see if he could adapt to another position.

As his first touch is good and he progresses the ball well, he might be effective as backup to Rudoni in the number 10 role (until a natural number 10 is signed) or as a number 8.
In Lampard`s first few games Dasilva was inverting into midfield and did well in possession, which indicates that he could be a decent option in midfield until the summer transfer window, when hopefully his agent will find him a new club that will play him as a wingback.

I agree he was probably bought to pay LWB, but for me a good wingback should be able to motor up and down the pitch all game, covering a huge amount of ground and doing attacking and defensive duties in equal measure. I don't see that in him, just a neat footballer who can play in tight spaces.

Doesn't help that he is 3 foot tall

Bit confused as I thought this was sorted out a number of weeks ago by the club…. Barista!!! I’d heard that Lampard likes a different pattern on top of his Latte to Robins and JDS is struggling with it resulting in some awkward silences in the new cafe area.

Once again we see the term “great” being used far too generously in the modern game.

Realistically Dasilva needs to go. I'd honestly try and offload him for free, maybe even pay him off a bit. Would definitely have suitors in L1 if not the championship.

We could create a new character - Sky Blue Sam Junior and he can dance around at the start

Tried him at LW last season... he's not going to give Haji or EMC sleepless nights... I had a few quid on him for 1st goalscorer at 66/1 when I went down to Plymouth for his 1st game in that position... that went well!

Can only play LWB. Not good enough for LB at Champ level... But highly unlikely to leave before his contract runs out.

He is excellent in terms of keeping the ball. His passing and dribbling stats are some of the best for a fullback in this division. So any midfield position like wingback or CM really.

He would suit a Rico Lewis style step into midfield. He’s very tidy on the ball but his lack of mobility would mean we’d struggle in transition.

Keeping with the Man City comparison, I would much prefer MVE playing a Kyle Walker (not this season) role ie) staying in the back 3 in possession and being used to kill opposition counter attacks. I don’t feel he’s suited to the high and wide position or the central position Lampard has tried to use him in.

Something like this in possession:

MVE Thomas Kitching
Sheaf Dasilva
Sakamoto Allen Rudoni Wright
Simms

He's not athletic enough to play the (wing back) role though. Agree that he's a very tidy footballer but it doesn't make up for his other deficiencies.

His wages will be an issue for L1 teams. He'll be on a very comfortable contract here I'd imagine.

Da Silva makes me look like a giant. He must be about 5 foot 4 - he also appears to be shrinking every time I see him

I always tell the wife about the couple of extra inches as well to be fair.

Just googled Juninho Paulista...cracking player at Boro in the 90s, I know you're remember him. Apparently he's 1.65m and Dasilva is 1.7m (wiki).
