Didn't contribute anything. He's either still injured or not interested, either way he shouldn't be on the pitch.

Hmm not sure the two above were at the game.....was this not the same David Bell who robbed someone through persistence on the byline, and rolled the ball back for our best chance created of the whole match that Juke fluffed twice from eight yards???

To be honest I thought Sammy had a bit of a shocker - certianly in the first half, bigi was immense all game and was far better than Sammy!

Don't get me worng not Bell's biggest fan but to say he did nothing when he arguably created our best goalscoring chance of the game is a little stupid!
We sort of need Bell, Baker & Sheff frustrating as they are as they bring something different to Bigi and Clingan who although great do nott really contribute that much in terms of creativity going forward.

Speaking of which was loving some of Christie's crosses today....but not so much Hussey's! :p

PUSB onwards and upwards!

Not slagging bell off as I think he is a decent player, just don't think he is worth his place at the moment.

Bell causes us lots of problems by offering Sammy no help or protection. Did provide one pull back yes but is that enough in 90 minutes? Baker was excellent. Hussey put some decent balls into the box and put some great tackles in in our own box.

Why do fans always have to pick on a player???? We won ffs, just enjoy the result for once!!!

As soon as you get your way and Bell is gone you'll move on to Baker then Hussey then Murphy... Then when someone you like leaves you'll scream loyalty!!

Bell was decent I thought. People often criticise his commitment but I thought he really worked today. Where sometimes he's liable to pull out of 50/50s I saw him challenge for a few 40/60s which was encouraging. It sounds a bit Mike Bassett but a player who's commited and puts in 100% doesn't deserve abuse.

He was average today, my biggest issue with Bell is that he rarely looks to passes the ball forward. He gets possession and just moves it on with a simple pass sideways or backwards. Not enough for what is considered to be our "creative" player playing at the tip of the diamond. Saying that I wouldn't say he played particularly bad today.

Funny how we all see the games differently. I thought Bell was good today. Hussey too.

Top comment, Belly can be a bit hit and miss but he's here for the long haul and he does have a lot of class when he's on his game. Lot of time for Belly.

Funny how people can go to the same game but come away with different opinions. Maybe we just look out for different things when judging players. I like Bell. Don't think there's any need for City fans to look for a scapegoat.

I don't think bell was so bad today. It was that sort of game. However if Sheff is fit I would prefer to see him in. we did lack a bit just behind the front two and Sheff will play that role better.

Agree with a lot of comments here. I still don't think he's fully fit, but thought he did well today. He closed down well, went in hard with determination for 3-4 tackles, never gave up, didn't give the ball away, showed a lovely first touch..well, every single time he got the ball. If I have a criticism of him is that's in the "hole" role, he comes deep too often and doesn't work the channels or offer a goal threat in the way that McSheffrey does.

I DO like him in the deeper role when he's fit enough, but think Baker maybe lacks the passing % success rate for the "hole" role-something that Bell does contribute most of the time, and he did today.

Sammy was very off colour today, possibly due to the midweek travails. Think of it like Football Manager..just got off a plane and 89% fit. Plus he joined up with them late after a knock, so has missed training. Today he was robbed a few times and players ghosted past him like he wasn't there. A few weeks ago he had an extra yard of pace and was tackling like David Batty in his prime. He did however pass the ball very accurately as ever today, and the fact that we won with a slightly below par Sammy performance is a bloody miracle!

EDIT: watching TFLS, I love how after Lukas' pen, Sammy just turns away with a steely gaze, mind on the job in hand, whilst the rest of the team celebrate. I can imagine him immediately telling everyone to concentrate, and we were superb for a spell after that opener.

I thought Bell did okay. He does have this annoying habit though of disappearing for spells in games. It is so frustrating. He's in the thick of things and helping the play tick over then suddenly for 5-10 minutes you forget he is even on the field of play.

I thought he did quite well yesterday though.

The moment Bell came to the club he was going to be a scapegoat. The same when McSheff returned. I thought Bell did well yesterday and those who went should watch the game on Sky and you'll clearly see his contribution. The same with Hussey who also gets an undeserved knocking most weeks.

Thought Hussey did well too.

Don't think Bell is a scapegoat. Just don't think he plays well enough often enough.

But the same goes for a lot of players, but that seems to get ignored. Turner for instance.

Disagree!

Thought Turner had a baptism of fire and really struggled and was quite poor at first, but then just got better and better and was pretty much putting in constantly decent performances in game after game in the end.

Agreed, only by the end it wasn't just "consistently decent"-it was consistently our best player by some distance. I think it's easy to forget just how good Turner was last season. He was the main reason we were in 4th IMO.

Don't rate the guy as a player. Encourages very negative play and constantly gets caught in possession. Oh well, got another 4 years of Bell so best start putting up with it!

Hussey needs to work on his crosses when running at the opposition overall it was a good display yesterday by all nobody deserves any grief and we won 2-0 for a nice change. I watched the first half in no mans land in block 27 and moved to block 17 second half, what a difference it was, like being at a football match again....we are now going to move seats for a bit of atmosphere.
