I did not like his facial hair and see it as one of the main reasons that Sheffers missed that sitter on New Years day.

Thanks for the goals time to move on, Clarke, Bailey & Moussa have signed up lets talk about them now rather than a former player.

A silly and irrelevant comment with regards the rental situation. Don't forget Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules. This limits us to a wage cap of 65% of turnover; thereafter an embargo is (again) placed upon us. The lower turnover being a function of relegation; which is another issue ACL can't be held accountable for, and any rental savings (if any) couldn't be used for player wages.

As for him moving on; well, it was ever likely to happen. I'm just thankful for the positive effect he had upon our season. Thanks David

You said it yourself, high rent agreements affect how much we can spend because of FFP

No idea then, can't see it being free as there must have been other clubs willing to pay a transfer fee for him. Maybe it involves a hefty loan fee

Ouch that will piss a few off lol.... I think if he had gone somewhere perm in this window people would understand but the fact he has gone only on loan (and so could have stayed here) will not be well received.

Turnover is the factor. Overheads beneath turnover irrelevant. Therefore, with regards wage cap; our free cash position post any rentals paid don't factor into this debate one iota.

You've not got turnover confused with gross margin have you? Oh, dear......

Anyway, genuinely can't see him doing as we'll at Ipswich. I think he could be a decent championship striker but needs to be at a club where he is the main man and the team is built around him and set up for him to score. Will he get that at Ipswich? I doubt it

I cant blame him, and thank him for his efforts when with us.

I mean living in Suffolk, where literally its one big happy family (count those toes), so near to Nottingham, where he's nearly doubled or trebled his wages and has been given a custom club tractor to drive around in, why wouldnt you?

Hopefully this will teach some fans that, it doesnt particularly matter what a footballer says, they will 99% of the time take the best deal available to them. He was never staying after his loan finished. Im not saying he should have either - fair play to him, go out and earn as much money as you can. I just feel a bit bad for fans who get overly attached and hope a player is going to stay with us, just to get let down again.

I think a few fans heard him talking about how 'he owed alot to coventry' and got excited he might stay. I, along with alot of others im sure heard 'I owe alot to Coventry City................for getting me a bigger move elsewhere'

Am i missing something here? Hes gone there on loan with a view to a perm move, which im assuming will be a free transfer because he will be out of contract? Or would there be an agreement in place now to say that they will pay x amount if he goes there perm?

Seems a bit of a kick in the teeth considering we could have done the same for him.

im probably missing somethign obvious here. Either way, good luck to him, thanks for the goals...and let hope he left his shooting boots for Clarke!

Surely if McDonald to Gillingham happens Robins will be looking at bringing in another striker even if its on loan ?

My guess Ipswich are paying a higher % of his wages to forest.

It's emotionally scarring that he looks happier here than he did holding his Coventry kit.

I meant that Ipswich may well have agreed to pay all his wages whilst on loan...relieving Forest of any ongoing cost....something City simply could not afford to do....

I should imagine there will be some jiggery pokery to add to his remuneration some how or other too...

I agree, but he is one player, the club must move on and forwards, so should the fans.

I believe that Leon Clarke can do just as well for the club..

i know what you are saying - and thats saying something, considering he doesnt exactly look as happy as Larry here!

but he looked genuinely gutted when he was holding our shirt!

Why are fans who dared to dream and hope being sworn at and slagged off? There is absolutely nothing wrong in entertaining the thought that a record breaking player who has endeared himself to the fans whilst on loan might make that a perminant move. Why not? Why attack people for believing the best outcome is possible. No one has stated that he will definately stay, most have said they believe he will move on, but hope he stays... That sounds pretty realistic to me.

It sounds as if you're (JHFC and CM87) just venting because you had the same thoughts yourselves. Deflection.

Best of luck to McGoldrick. The first true star we've had in such a long time. You will be remembered fondly.

I actually think Clarke could end up being better, he certainly appears to be physically bigger and faster than McG. I think with MR coaching his technique should improve and he is certainly no stranger to scoring goals. Also would have thought he is on a lower wage and may have something to prove.

Strange move by McLeish to let him go so quickly considering his form and Forests lack of it.

Ay? I assume CM87 is me? I ask because your post makes no sense at all. Where exactly am I either 'swearing at' or 'slagging off' any of our fans? did you even read my post?

I said I feel bad for our fans who believed he may stay! hows that doing either swearing at them or slagging them off?! I genuinely feel bad for them because if they thought he may be staying im assuming this wont have been the first time they have been let down, and that it wont be the last.

I also wished him good luck, and dont begrudge him going out to earn more money. Im sure its also a situation where he cant be completely transparent, but it would just be better all round if when interviewed, a footballer could say something more along the lines of 'ive enjoyed my time here, the club have been great for me, its worked out well for both me and the club, and now im going to take one of the bigger opportunities ive earnt' id have no problem with that.....but understand why he cant be that transparent.

Some people believe in the tooth fairy, Unicorns & God....I think they're idiots too.

It was clear to anyone who understands football and/or human nature, that City had ZERO chance of retaining DMG's services......

...But I bet those that believed he would stay will now blame every defeat and/or poor display from now until the end of the season on his departure & Sisu for not signing him....despite the fact it was clearly never ever within their means to do so.

PS: I'm not venting.....I've always KNOWN he was leaving at the end of his loan spell (see many previous posts stating so) & I have already expressed my gratitude for his goals & wished him all the best within this thread.
