He was a bit before my time but being a watcher of cricket in the mid to late eighties I saw a lot of the highlights of earlier tests during rain delays on bbc2?
Especially when he ran across the broken glass in bare feet. Can't stand cricket but I know the name. I also liked him in the Die Hard movies.
Bob Willis aged 70
Someone told me he'll be in the next Ashes team?

Roxette were a great duo. My favourite song by them:Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson dies aged 61 following long battle with Brain cancer.
Brain cancer sounds most horrendous.Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson dies aged 61 following long battle with Brain cancer.
My Dad (r.i.p) always said - "Son - there's no fun in getting old"
Seeing names/stars from your teens passing brings it all ever closer to home doesn't it? None of us is invincible. And having said that I feel like a 30yr old and am happy with my lot despite the turmoil life presents. Wonder how many don't wake the morning after saying that?

I remember checking the obituary section on 2001 and I guy with my full name had passed away he was 1 year older then meMy dear old mam, bless her, used to get the Telegraph delivered and turn straight to the obituary column to see who she'd outlived! I find myself doing that nowadays! :nailbiting:

I met him a couple of times at charity events and he was a lovely bloke.
Vividly remember the Ashes from 81 and in particular the Headingley Test.
RIP Bob.

The saddest obituary I ever read said something like:I look in the obituary page every day, see if I'm on it !
I went to an elderly customers funeral a few years ago. Me and my sister knew her from when we were kids. She was 92 so had a good innings but we decided we'd go. The funeral was attended by us two, an elderly bloke, and the vicar. She'd outlived all her friends and family. But it did feel a bit weird to be honest. The saddest obituary I ever read said something like:
"Jim Smith has died, will anyone who knew anything about him please contact us?"
Not quite as bad as 'Jim Smith died. His funeral was yesterday. No-one showed.'The saddest obituary I ever read said something like:
"Jim Smith has died, will anyone who knew anything about him please contact us?"
Cheers M. Although this one isn't my work, I did a similar one last year. They take some time but they are very effective.Bit of work in that HH !
I remember him well. He was a good mate of Jimmy Tarbuck, if I recall.Kenny Lynch, British singer, aged 81.
He had a beautiful voice and had a couple of top 10 hits in the early 1960's.
