Thomas reminds me a lot of Paul Williams. He became a fans favourite for his last ditch tackles and “putting his body on the line”. The problem was he only had to do that so often because he was terribly out of position. I see glimpses of it with Thomas.
I’ve got lots of issues with Thomas (he keeps coming out where MvE is when there’s no need, he never gives MvE a decent ball to run onto, mostly MvE related really), but you can see his potential. I don’t think I’ve come out of a game watching Kitching thinking the same, though he’s played the odd nice pass, then fucks it up three times as much.
The problem people have with him is they are leaning towards the price tag (4m if to be believed) and not the player. Much the same as Wright was written off (7-8M) before a ball was kicked.
