We need a shoutout for Hamer's amazing transformation from perpetual sinner to saint.

How's he done it? Strength of will? Coaching? A bollocking? Or have the club sent him off to a psychiatrist / psychologist to help him temper his need to niggle and scythe?

Whatever it is, not sure I've seen such a change in a player, without him losing his effectiveness, either.

Completely agree and it's credit to him. Have changed my opinion of him completely, thought he'd started to regress after a positive start, but he's really pushed on recently and is far more influential and consistent. Possible career in the Premiership if he keeps on current trajectory.

Improved since he stopped going to Samoan Joe's 3x a week

He's certainly undergone a radical transformation, he's not the moody niggly nasty twat that he was prone to be at the start of the season. Whatever caused the massive change, I'd love to know so I could recommend it to the Mrs!

Said in the match thread yesterday, where was this version of Hamer last season ? His missed games from suspensions must have been into double figures.

But whether it's Robins, Adi or one of the captains, he's a lot more productive as he's on the pitch a lot longer now. And it shows in our performances.

Probably worked out or been told he won’t play in the prem unless he sorted it out, I think he has the ability to play in the top league just look at some of the players teams like Burnley had.

He's also started to really stamp his authority on games rather than drifting in an out of them. Great to see.

Credit to him. I think a bit of luck too in that I thought a few of his cards were unlucky especially his red. But he's stopped putting himself in those types of situations so he can tackle hard and still be in players faces without the potential of being sent off. Credit to the club too, they have performed wonders.

It's not just that he hasn't lost effectiveness. To me he's hugely improved. I wasn't really too keen on him before when people were raving about him, but I love the new Gus, and as you say the character transformation is impressive.

I think its a combination of our style of plax and him learning from his mistakes. We sit deeper now and break which means he is not chasing he is playing with the ball in front of him. Which is allowing him to be in better positions.

And experience is making the game slow down for him which allows him to make better decisions. He is a very good player that has grown up a lot and improved since being with js. Very good signings.

he has started working the ref - watch him - constantly talking to the ref, getting them onside, and if he does clip someone - a cheeky grin
He is gettting cleverer at it
Loved the way Wise had the ref in his pocket easily in the short time we had him.

What price a red card on Tuesday now?

We were on about that at half time he has cut out all the back chatting and and just seems to fight to get the ball back all the time instead of just barging in and retaliating for fouls on other players.
Sunderland fans were saying they would love him in their side.

Said a couple of weeks back when asked that he had worked hard with Adi V to try to get back into better positions and to learn not to make the fouls he was making - or words to that effect....(usually silly pull backs or clips to stop players)
