Disgusting stewards and their pathetic excuses. (3 Viewers)

My brother was one of the fans in block 27 with the SISU out sign and he was one of the few that was not kicked out. Now before you all starting saying 'it distracts the lads, they should be doing it outside the ground' they were barely heard before the stewards decided to get power happy. The man in the suit was talking to them for a while and stated that he agreed with their view point but he was doing his job which is fair enough, but his excuse was that the sign did not have a fire safety certificate and therefore would have to removed, they argued the point that the chances of the derby flag having a certificate was low but in response they said that the derby one had a certificate which I find hard to believe. My brother then asked that if the sign said 'we love coventry' would they moan about it and they said that they would remove that too, which again I find hard to believe. I heard on the radio people saying that it may have been to do with the fact it was in with the crowd and this is why the derby flag was allowed. But when asked of the SISU out sign could be put where no fans were sitting they said no. Now one of the people they were with is one of the most non violent people you can meet and for the stewards to treat him the way they did is disgusting. He pays for his ticket, he doesn't get paid to
Be there like the stewards so I'm sure they would expect him to not want to be chucked out, but that's no excuses
To push and shove him and others down the stairs, also other cov fans simply got involved because of the way other fans were treated and they to were pushed and shoved. It's disgusting the way they treated the fans today and to put it simply, I'm blaming SISU, if they sold the club all of this would never have happened, well maybe it would if the new owners turned out to be the same anyway.

Ill be honest when i go over to my first game and a steward pushes me or treats me bad ive no problem kicking the fuck out of him if ive done nothing wrong, how they get awy with it you cant treat paying fans like that its a disgrace!!!

It's not hard to understand, you can't take a banner in unless it's got a fire safety certificate. That Derby one goes to all away games with them and belongs to a Derby supporters club. So I think it's safe to safe it's legit.

A. If its 'law' it doesnt matter if were Middlesboro, Coventry, Rugby Town. Stadium saftey laws are not set by individual clubs, they are set by the heath & safety exec.

B. Points 1 & 2 prove the point that they were taken away because the club didnt like what they said, nothing to do with safety.

Come on Cookie it may be true but where were all these people when we had Cov flags in the home end.

The guy on the radio said that even with the certificate they'd judge based on the message. Even avoiding harsh language or copyright, I wouldn't bet on it passing.

It's lies about the rules being the same at every club. Never had a problem with mine, only at Sheffield Wednesday. Also fire certificates aren't issued when flags are created. These were banners as well so they know they can't get a fire certificate.

Guy on CWR said that bedsheets would never be something that can get a fire certificate. Can we try putting that to the test, or can someone please start mass-producing them on a commercial scale replete with fire certificates? That may be the only way to get them to admit that it's what on them that counts, as I bet they still get removed then anyway! They'll probably argue that "SISU Out" is offensive.

As far as actually ejecting people-can they do that? Surely removing the banner is enough? If every fan brings a banner, would they eject them all?

If anyone else can tell me what was going on in Block 15 that'd be helpful as I couldn't quite make it out. It did look as if they were being very physical towards fans.

Just on the subject of the Derby fans flag.....even if they do have said certificate for the big one, what about the other 5 smaller ones that were lying next to it?

I personally think we'll get a poor excuse and when we do we'll just think outside the box and do something else (T-Shirts, posters etc)

Oh, one final point....how come these bedsheets are wrong yet the 20,000 blue cards we were given for the Chelsea FA Cup game were fine. I'm sure card is quite flammable?

Why don't you just get a few hundred tshirts made cheaply with SISU out. If all the people in one block wore them it would look effective and they can't tell you to cover up, can they?

It kicked off, as they tried to kick out a fan.
Another fan joined in as he started getting shoved about then more and more stewards came up then more coventry fans went down to 'back up' there fellow fans.
I sit at the back row and all I could see was the police and stewards fighting the fans.
More coventry fans joined in and it got a bit to much for the police and they backed off.
Very disappointing seeing them push a fan over, which I think really kicked it off.

You're supposed to have a number!!" which to me is a fair point, all PC's should have their staff number on display in case they need reporting!! Anyway, his fellow cop went over to the fan to tell him to pipe down, they argue, and the copper needlessly shoves the fan -- chaos ensues! I generally try and support and co-operate with police, but this guy was totally out of line and sparked an incident which could have been easily avoided.

i too ususally support the Police but if this is what started it, then im afraid they were in the wrong this time.

Absolutely right mate, the guy asked the copper why he had no idendity number on his uniform, which meant that we cannot make a report against him as it's our word against theirs and no way of proving which officer he was. The PC's then get very, very heavy handed, pushing that chap into the seats and it all kicked off. I actually wanted to be a copper at one point, but the way they treat football fans as some kind of second class citizen is sickening.

I considered joining too, but I failed the entrance exam. They've stopped taking those with an IQ over 74.

Used to be respected pillars of the community. Not going to tar all with the same brush but many appear just rent-a-thug wannabes.

Yeah, I should apologise not all officers are like that. In fact a few looked genuinely disgusted by some officers behaviour. I was out in town last night and one chap was getting dragged around by the knees in handcuffs, gotta be damaging that has.

I have a question?
Why do SOME cov fans always try and stir pointless things into something major. Problem is your on someones property and you have to abide by the rules? what would you do if someone came into your house with a banner directed at you? Think about it. we as fans should protest outside the ground in a peaceful manner. what I saw today was a disgrace. PPL from top of the block running down to join in. MINDLESS if you ask me. I agree something needs to done in regards to the board but embarrassing ourselves in front of the camaras is not the way to go.

to be fair when you see how some mugs behave in town its hardly surprising

So, what do you have to say in regard to banners and other items directed against SISU being removed from fans outside the ground? I completely see your point, but it's our club. To sit around on our hands while this kind of thing goes on is not really possible, I didn't join in the fighting but I can't repeat the things I said on a family forum. I was outraged and really upset at the things we saw. We have a right to our opinion be it SISU in or out and they have a right to voice it.

But the trouble today didn't stem from that, it stemmed from an officer breaching his duty and not wearing his insignia, a serious offence.

I also witnessed this close up, the police caused this and as a 54 year old man even I was incensed by their behaviour. Thugs dressed in uniforms disguising their identity, resembles the London rotors, uniform hoody, identity hidden, thug behaviour, only difference police expect respect,... try earning it firstly by an apology and secondly by making sure that guy is not prosecuted for some jumped up charge.

And that justifies perhaps damaging this guys hands seriously? What if it's his livelihood? Perhaps he'd just had one too many, we've all been there. Don't wanna defend thugs and idiots in town cause I've seen all that, but just a point to think on maybe. I'm just wound up after today haha.

People from the top probably were only looking to get involved, but for once I think this was in good nature in order to protect a fellow City fan!

It was a total disgrace the actions of the police today in block 15, although they sure beat a hasty retreat when the crowd started charging down in aid of that chap, sadly did not stop him getting nicked.

If this continues we will see the crowds dwindle more than they already are.

I urg EVERYONE PLEASE STOP THE VIOLENCE and lets concentrate on football again.

we are in real danger of losing future fans because of this.

What violence? Until today where violence was provoked, no one was resorting to violence!! We want a peaceful Protest, but SISU seem to want something different!!

I would never condone or take part in violent activities, however I cannot blame the CCFC fans for the part they played today! 1 fan who asked a valid question of a Police Officer, whether it was done in the right tone or not, against a few nobbish coppers?? Im not surprised other supporters felt the need to help their fellow supporter!
