Do we need a long-throw specialist? (1 Viewer)

I just watched a women's college football game where one team had a girl who could deliver the ball from a throw-in right into the penalty area. Every time she did this, it was like a corner kick, the entire opposition retreated and stood guard in the penalty area. Those throws caused havoc and panic in the opposition defence, and one goal was scored from the resulting melee after one throw.
Having a long-throw specialist is a tremendous weapon. I'm surprised every team does not have one. Surely it can't be that hard to test all the players to see who can throw the farthest and coach them to mamximize their distance. It's a skill like any other that can be learned and practiced.

We don't need a long-throw specialist, we just need a throw-in specialist.

Someone who could take throw-ins would be great.

They could throw it the length of the pitch but if it's to our striker with 3 of their players around him and none of ours remotely close to either get the flick or the 2nd ball it's pointless.

Did anyone see the England vs Croatia game? We scored from a long throw-in.
Even if it results in only one extra goal a season, it's worth it.

Here's a classic long-throw goal. Tim Cahill scores for Australia vs Japan 2006 World Cup.
