So a bloke stops going to Cov over Northampton. He won't come back. He is doing other things with his time. A year later Wasps come. He chooses to go to Wasps over whatever ekes he is doing.
He still has no intention of coming back to CCFC.
We have lost him due to the competition of Wasps?

The bloke looks a bit silly for hating SISU / CCFC for moving but goes to Wasps.... He probably gets angry about child labour and shops in Primark.

Dongo I answered your question, and now you come out with other permeatations to either prove you right or me wrong, or something else.

You asked if anyone knew supportes who have given up on CCFC to watch Wasps. I do. Question answered end of.

Re the above I am not entering the debate and have tried not to. You have one view, mine differs, I am sure others differ in other ways. Lets just agree to slightly disgaree rather than pages of scenarios.

Im off now, good day to you all!

We've had optimism this season, haven't we? Top of the league, in the top six for six months, a 6-0 win, 5-0, 4-0 win, 4-1 win. A sticky patch and they fuck off again.

I agree with your last point though. Certain fans will only attend when the going is good so if we are doing well then Wasps won't get a look in.

All we need to do is run the club correctly give the fans some optimism and a good product on the pitch and Wasps will be no threat at all.

Torch you are completely right. Although even with the sticky patch our attendances are pretty good for this level

Good day mate.
I am sticking with the original question. Fans who left CCFC for Wasps.

No but we have lost the people who might go to 10 games a year but now go to 5 because they go to 5 Wasps games.
We have lost people who might have gone to away games but go to Wasps home games instead.
We have lost people who now just go to Wasps full time because it is free / cheap.

So you personally know someone who has said. I am going to stop going to City and start going to Wasps instead.
People who were regularly attending City at the time?
Who have just switched sports and ditched their team?

I know 2 people who now go to less CCFC games because they now go to Wasps.

They still go to the odd CCFC game here and there but less than they did before Wasps.

1 of them couldn't name a Wasps player either.

I know 1 other who just goes to Wasps now because his wife made him choose as he was going out most weekends!

Sorry Stu you can't have the bloke who left Cov over the Nothampton move (pre wasps) and has no intention of coming back. Who now goes to Wasps instead of shopping. Who never had any intention of coming back to Cov unless we get new owners.

That bloke is the exact sort of fan the club need to win back if we are to be successful, if they become loyal to Wasps it makes it much harder to win that person back.
Which part of that do you disagree with?

We can't just limit our fan base to people who stayed loyal through and after the Northampton saga, if you write off all the supporters who have continued to stay away since Northampton then we will never get the level of support to progress.

If I were Wasps, I'd be both pleased and disappointed with how their quest for fans has gone so far.

They've clearly gone for the whole experience package, and it seems to have been moderately successful in bringing people along for that ride. So their targeting has worked. The problem they'll have with that, however, is they're reliant in keeping gates reasonably high (and rugby doesn't have the base that football does for this to be easy) and it also means the viewers' attendance will be far more flexible in attending or not.

i.e. they're still able to be won back by CCFC... and other non Coventry, non sport events too.

So that means Wasps will have to continue to be hard working and high profile in marketing that experience. They don't have the advantage of roots or heritage to go with.

The big question is do CCFC go after that market, or leave them to that, and go after another one...
