I have read hooligan books about them all over Europe on the 80s without tickets and also that drink was a factor. We wasn't in LL for both games though. Exonerated is pretty much all they could do given what had gone before but those capable of rational thought and not being brainwashed must surely accept it was a factor. Nit the reason, certainly not the biggest problem, but a factor all the same and niaive to imo think otherwise. But I wasn't there and don't imagine many here were so as I say my opinion. If we all agreed then forums would be pointless places.
But the fences were put up because fans couldn't behave and Liverpool fans at heysel were a good example of that. It was an ill thought out idea to cage them in but wouldn't have been required if people behaved themselves. Again with fences not completely culpable but another failing and another factor in the disaster. So many things in the set of circumstances that to blame just one thing (and I include Liverpool fans in that) would be wrong. In short im in no way saying it was their fault and certainly not the victims but that some of their own will be partially culpable although they would never admit so.

You say you are sure that's what they believe in but a belief doesn't have to be so strong as to inform behaviour or action. You could take incisive dramatic and memorable direct action to support or publicise your own cause but I doubt you would. I wouldn't say that makes you weak or lacking in moral fibre. Let's be honest there will probably be about 1600-2000 regulars and they will make up for the shortfall in numbers by selling off any sign of talent as soon as they get offer over 500k in. If torch wants to take his lad more power to him if I can't get my little girl to a pre season game this year I will have to give in and take her to that place as she is constantly asking to go and watch the sky blues.
