Whether you like it or not Robins just doesn't really give a toss about the league cup, sees this as an extra friendly.

I think we'll beat Boro on Saturday and all will be rosy again.

No excuse losing to a league 2 team. Lost count how many times we’ve put out a strong enough team against lower league opposition and lost. Embarrassing.

Last year the pitch was the excuse, this year its because we had 2 weeks more off over the summer........

I think we'll struggle for a few more weeks yet potentially, we look seriously undercooked and we have some tough games. It'll all come together, but hopefully sooner rather than later and not playing catch-up.

I can't remember such a poor pre-season in terms of fitness. I know we've had pre-season's before where we haven't won a game. Not sure I can remember a season where barely anyone completed 90mins. Seems like most of the squad could do with at least another 90mins before showing any sharpness.

Feels like every single year is the same and we are always fine. Difference between this season and last is at least we are creating. Last season we were never really played off the park we just couldn't get results.

I think we’ll get a point Saturday as things start to fall into place. When the fixtures came out I thought we wouldn’t get much in August. We can start to get in the groove then… keep the faith people ✊🏻

What is it with us and cup-ties year after year lower teams put us to the sword.
Our league cup record over the last 10 years is ridiculous and our FA cup record not a lot better non-league teams have knocked us out twice in the last 9 seasons as well as Walsall, Northampton and a 4-0 thumping at Cambridge ffs!

I think the creating part is key. If we weren’t creating chances I’d be worried. I’m confident the goals will come.

Very interesting season this, different dynamic. Record ST sales, money spent, better squad on paper and some alleged big players. MR has performed excellently over the years as the plucky underdog but how will he cope with new expectations? Staying up or top half isnt going to cut it

FFS you don't get promoted or relegated after one League game and one Mickey Mouse cup game.

Where you finish is what matters.

Let's put that into perspective. With so many players coming in mid table might be progress in terms of rebuilding the squad. I think 2024/2025 will be the measure of where we are at.

Judging by the team he put out and by his reaction after I'd say he very much gave a toss

Disappointed with the performance no doubt. But not bothered about being knocked out. Our record in this cup backs that up!

Correct, we are still very much a work in process, just bid for the Barnsley lad and I reckon we will go for another am forward, let’s get to the back end of October and see where we are then.

No one is saying it isn't rosy. One or two posters perhaps but most are level headed enough to be frustrated to lose but still optimistic.

And robins was annoyed last night so maybe he gives more of a toss than you think

The team that finished last season would have seen the last two games out. That was our strength. The defence need to up their game. Losing 6 players out of our back 5 even though 3 at the end couldn't get a game. BNC, McNally and Doyle were first choice defenders. Their replacements are starting afresh and need to gel quickly. Thomas was playing in L1, Lati at RWB. Binks and Milan have good pedigree but have looked slow starters. As Brian Clough said, you get a 0 for the opposition, you don't lose.
