5 million and 35k a week at boro. That's silly for the championship.

Yes it seems it. Good player back at his home club. But if 'Boro get promoted on the back of this signing can't see anyone in NE complaining

Crazy signing for championship. Just shows the difference between where we are ( couldnt afford 200k for a player) and top end of the league above us.

Even in the championship we wouldn't be able to afford that. Just shy of £2m pa wages and £5m signing, 65-70% of our entire turnover in the championship.

Crazy, money is ruining football. Makes a farce out of financial fair play, teams without a sugar daddy just can't keep up or will go bust trying.

I would say this for Steve Gibson though, he's about the best chairman in England at the moment. Born in Middlesbrough, a fan of the club, helped rescue his club from bankruptcy, built them a new ground because they needed one (not for financial benefit) has pumped millions in time and time again with no expectation of a return... deserves more success than he's had, really. If anything, his crime has been to be overly loyal to managers.
