The truthIt still remains a ridiculous statement though. This was his full quote:
"The plan with Ivan Toney was for us to win promotion to the Championship, offer him a much better contract, watch him score 20 goals in the Championship and then he could be worth £20-£25 million,” MacAnthony said. “But that could be taken away from us without kicking another football.
“We don’t have to sell him if we don’t go up, but Ivan wants Championship football and it would hard to deny him the chance. It could be Ivan has played his last game for us."
Fair enough he might've lost him in the summer window due to not playing in a higher division but his initial comment is frankly ridiculous.
That's literally like DB saying: Well it's disappointing we weren't crowned as champions and promoted to the Championship as we had a plan with Matty Godden and that was to score 45 goals in the Championship, go up to the Premier League, watch him score another 20-25 goals, sell him for £100M, buy the Ricoh and send Wasps back to London. But now because of the EFL we can't and the dream has been ripped away from us.
It's hypothetical bollocks.
Don’t need to it’s clear as day we’re going up as championsI think it’s good our well managed team and owners have said nothing !
DM said any club not wanting to resume could forfeit the fixtures - so much for sporting integrity as obviously some sides would still ending playing less games than others if season carries on. Seeing as Posh have a load of games against sides not keen on continuing I'm sure he thinks this option is very fairWe carry on playing the remaining 9-10 games, in that time 5 clubs in league 1 go bust, Peterborough have played all 5 twice and got 30 points from those a games, Wycombe have 5, who would loose out the most......
Sure I read somewhere Bristol want to play out the season so the manager can get used to league one and see more of his players
that’s a wabkstain move if I ever saw one.
best buckle up - we’re going to have to win the title on the pitch
We won’t it can’t Ns won’t happen weather they like it or not clubs can’t afford itSure I read somewhere Bristol want to play out the season so the manager can get used to league one and see more of his players

What a prick!Oh the lovely DM has threatened not only to sue the EFL but also other L1 clubs if they don't play. A 'ledge' indeed...
League One in turmoil: The threat of legal action has smaller clubs fearful for their futures
Surely this is a non starter. Any team who doesn’t want to play could surely counter sue for incurring further costsOh the lovely DM has threatened not only to sue the EFL but also other L1 clubs if they don't play. A 'ledge' indeed...

He knows the EFL are weak as piss tbh he’s doing what we would want our owners to do won’t change anything tho calm down lads we will be up as champions they all know it tooOh the lovely DM has threatened not only to sue the EFL but also other L1 clubs if they don't play. A 'ledge' indeed...

Would we want our owners to do what he's doing though? Promotion would be great but publicly threatening to sue other L1 clubs if they don't play whilst they're already on their knees? I'd be pretty embarrassed and ashamed if I were a Posh fan right now to be honest - as a fan you'd have to draw a line somewhere.
So another week to wait by the looks of it. I'm guessing a minority of clubs are dragging their heels hoping that covid will fuck off and everything will go back to normal in the next 3 or 4 weeks...not a chance.
I bet he would worry about taking SISU on! they never give up and it would take years and cost him a fortune, LOLOh the lovely DM has threatened not only to sue the EFL but also other L1 clubs if they don't play. A 'ledge' indeed...

Can’t the FA step in and sort there EFL wankers out ?
I hope that's hoping you get promoted and not us relegated.Time to wade in a bit here. I’m not here to be OTT, but also offer some balance.
As soon as null and void went off the table, there was only one conclusion - to promote you and Rotherham. The two best sides I’ve personally seen this season. We beat Rotherham at ours in our best performance of the season, whereas we were a bit flat against yourselves. We’ll never know what would have gone on, but based on the key games you won just before lockdown, I think you would have won the league.
What annoyed me was what happened next and how this has been portrayed.
It turns out WPPG was an Oxford United designed scheme to go up in 3rd without the playoffs. I’m glad the EFL got a stat man in to look at both and they’ve now rejected that version. Not least from self interest, but just because all it did was distort the table and went for a projection method.
The club I have the most sympathy with is Ipswich. It’s going to cost them far more to curtail the season than to play it out. That applies to us too and Sunderland. It’s not true for the majority of the league though, which I accept.
MacAnthony’s conduct has annoyed me recently. Originally we were singing from the same hymn-sheet but he’s since started suggesting creative playoffs etc etc and now Barry Fry is banging on about WPPG again.
Hearing rumours that Oxford might have broken rank after a bit of a hissy fit in joining us the other day because of the WPPG thing.
It’ll be sorted soon. For us, I’m keen to either win our financial argument, or if we can’t, then just adopt the framework as per L2 now. Get on with it.
I hope to see you again next season!
Yes 100% if I was in their position I would want our chairmen fighting our case which is what he’s doing it won’t get him anywhere but he’s tryiny we will be promoted as champions they don’t have a way out of that factWould we want our owners to do what he's doing though? Promotion would be great but publicly threatening to sue other L1 clubs if they don't play whilst they're already on their knees? Problem is their flappers who are worried sick by threats from DM etc this will probably drag on weeksIt is becoming clear (to me anyway) that the EFL has 2 options (assuming they don't go for null & void).
Finish the season when it is safe to do so
End now with standard promotion / playoffs / relegation based on PPG
Anything else just isn't going to work.
Teams should be given those 2 choices to vote for.
