ITV should have no rights given to them for football. I suppose they do because of the adverts

Once again the FA have no balls. When ITV Digital collapsed and they claimed it was nothing to do with ITV and therefore wouldn't pay up the contract they should have been told they could have no more football until they paid what they owed.

Is it true that FA rules state all Prem pitches have under soil heating purely to stop games on TV being called off from frozen pitches?

If so, that's all you need to know about the FA and TV deals

wouldn't it be to stop games in general being called off?

You'd have thought so.

But I assume it's to please the TV companies.

Not the 40,000 + fans that have payed for travel etc?

Wouldn't it just be to stop games being called off full stop? Why would it be just for a certain party?

I don't know. That's why I asked the question?

You seem to know?

Job done and all that but for a 6-0 win that was a pretty boring uninspiring game. Maybe it was the lack of atmosphere at the match but watching it at home I was struggling to stay awake.

Gutted, had a bet on Rooney to score first and 7-0 win!! Would have cashed out but was too busy watching a film with my eldest, so didn't watch the 2nd half

6-0 @ 7/1.

Not life changing but £35 added to the skybet pot.

Agreed. Totally uninspiring but you have to say they did the job required.

It was mine I think. Expected result and qualified. That pitch was shocking. Players from both sides were consistently losing their footing and there were some awful divots. A couple of days on the beach now then hopefully a half decent game against the Swiss on Tuesday.

Some good trips coming up. Vilnius, Madrid/Valencia (if Spain qualify) and Berlin all before the Euros.

Roy Hodgson, Roy Hodgson, Roy Hodgson, he's taking us to Paris, to Paris, to Paris....

Are you going to make it back for Burton tomorrow. Would rather watch the mighty Sky Blues than a load of overpaid tossers pretending they care in an England shirt.

Nah. Two days on the beach and flying into London for the home game on Tuesday. When push comes to shove I will always take England over Cov. Especially away trips. Players don't receive a penny for playing for England btw.

Agree but I'd put Gary Lineker in the same class. Never been impressed by Rooney but he does seem to bang in the goals somehow.

Greavsie was way before me, I remember Lineker but would pick Shearer before him.

100% not true. They get £9, 500 when called up to a squad ( per game) and get % of advertising and media rights. There is a rumour that some players are getting higher % than others and is causing a rift.
So if you in the squad for San Marino and Switzerland you get £19,000 plus about £10,000 in advertising etc.

What the hell has happened to the Netherlands again?

They always look such a talent when you see their line-ups. Bigger underachievers than England these past few decades for sure.

UEFA European Championship Qualifying Table Group A

P W D L F A GD Pts

1 Iceland 7 6 0 1 15 3 12 18
2 Czech. 7 5 1 1 14 9 5 16
3 Nether 7 3 1 3 13 7 6 10
4 Turkey 7 2 3 2 8 9 -1 9

Looking now almost certain not to qualify automatically.

Correct but it then gets transferred into a centralised pot. The pot gets divided up (it was 4 times a year when I was involved) between various good causes.

Almost certainly won't be the best 3rd place team. Could even miss out all together. Would be weird to have a tourney without them.

They have such talented players. something has gone drastically wrong. When they are in tournaments you always think it might just be their year.

Agree. They're not alone this time round either. Spain and Italy haven't really impressed and have been poor at times.

Worries me when Italy are poor in qualifying. They've done it before then gone on to win the bloody tournament.

Could bode well! Both us and them are well matched atm. The last three times we've played them it's been tight. Two draws (one over 120 mins) and a fairly unconvincing Italy win.

Netherlands in trouble

Turkey 3-0 Netherlands
.
.
It's all over in Turkey , where Netherlands have suffered their heaviest competitive defeat since 1996. Can you remember that 4-1 loss against England? Alan Shearer wheeling away in celebration?

Elsewhere, Czech Republic have beaten Latvia 2-1, meaning the Dutch can only qualify if they can somehow finish third.

They have to hope Turkey drop points from their last two games now. A summer tournament without the Dutch? That's the way it's shaping up.

Crazy crazy times. Btw it's worth saying that the Dutch goal was celebrated at Wembley by the England faithful almost as much as the four we scored!
