Fabio Capello’s man-management skills are under question again with two more of his stars furious at their treatment.
Following England’s 2-2 Euro 2012 qualifying draw with Switzerland, Peter Crouch and Frank Lampard have joined Rio Ferdinand in being angry with their boss.
Crouch, not even included on the Wembley bench despite scoring a goal every other appearance under Capello, is considering turning his back on England while the Italian remains at the helm.
Lampard also left Wembley in a fury after being made a scapegoat.
for England’s poor first-half display, while Ferdinand has not forgiven Capello for the way he was treated over the captaincy issue in March.
The draw means that England have failed to win in four home games for the first time since 1981.
Asked why he should remain in charge, Capello said:
“This is the question for the chairman (David Bernstein). I am here. It is my job. I try to do everything as best as possible.”
Bernstein has backed Capello but the way Crouch, Lampard and Ferdinand have been treated is storing up problems down the line.
Crouch is said to be “disenchanted” at his treatment but loyalty to England means he is likely to make himself available for further humiliations.
Lampard was first out of the dressing room and is known to be unhappy.
