England will play Denmark at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on 9 February. Boss Fabio Capello is anxious to play away from Wembley before the Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales at the Millennium Stadium in March.
And the retractable roof at the Parken Stadium will offer ideal conditions as well as mimicking the venue in Cardiff.
It had originally been anticipated Capello's side would tackle Argentina in Copenhagen on that date but the Danish federation raised objections.
With the South Americans unable to play the fixture 24 hours earlier, as had been suggested, it was decided the best option was to look for new opponents.
One major issue was that some players would have ended up playing twice in three days, because Chelsea's Premier League encounter with Liverpool has been moved to 6 February.
Uruguay and Paraguay were both mentioned as possible alternatives but complications quickly became apparent and England will now face Denmark instead.
In a quirk of fate, England last played Denmark in August 2005 in a final warm-up match before they faced Wales in a World Cup qualifier.
England were beaten 4-1 in Copenhagen but went on to earn a 1-0 victory over Wales in Cardiff on 3 September.
The multi-purpose Parken Stadium has a capacity of 38,000 for football matches and features a retractable roof which was added to the ground in 2001.
The game will be broadcast live on ITV1.
