Club v Country is a silly debate for me.
At Uni, I felt disconnected to Club because we were struggling, not going to games because I lived hundreds of miles away. Likewise, after 2014 and 2016, I lost interest in watching the England games too. Fair play to Southgate, we’re actually a team who’s getting to the latter stages of competitions now and have restored the nation’s hopes of success.
For me, when England are doing well at major tournaments, the vibe is amazing and everyone seems happy and excited about football. A feeling you don’t get when you’re supporting Cov. Coventry City, however, was always my ‘first love’ when it comes sports and England used to be more of an escape from supporting an average team.
In fairness, if you travelled across the world to watch England play home and away, you’d feel closer to the team.
In short, you can absolutely support club and country with the same intensity.

All those people you see throwing limbs at Wembley against Germany, all the people who were watching in those crowds where it was shown on big screen - most of them, I bet, will say club before country. City mean way more, but I still think a few people are lying to themselves as to how they’d feel if we managed to win this thing.

If England win it I will cry and I will be just as happy as when City got promoted, or won the FA Cup. It's still love, but just not as deep. Your love for your hometown club is just deeper, because you breathe it every day.If England win it will probably feel a bit like how it feels for a Man Utd fan from Surrey when Man Utd win something. It feels great, you celebrate like mad & party all night but ultimately you're not as closely tied to it as you are with Cov, and you don't 'feel' it quite as much. Thats how I feel anyway.
