It is hard to keep up with the spin and trying to decipher what some of the statements actually mean, but the club do now say they benefit from concourse purchases.

What they don't detail is how they benefit.

That's what people focus on and as its easily understood by fans Sisu like to talk about it, but none of this is about F&B. It's about the development potential of land and the ability for the club to own premises to rent out for other income. The conference centre and the undeveloped land at the Ricoh is where the money is. That's why if they can't buy it they want to build elsewhere. However elsewhere would be far less valuable than the Ricoh (for a number of reasons not least existing business) hence the refusal to give up on the Ricoh "purchase".

On topic: overheads for the short time the concourses are open are going to be very high comparatively to say a pub or off license. To be honest, not buying would probably push prices higher as they have the same costs to cover with less sales.

I have never spent a single penny on the catering at the ricoh and have no plans to do so. Sometimes we bring a snack for half time but it's only gluttony really. the bottom line is that if people didn't actually buy their £4.50 beer, the prices would drop.

You know what the prices are going to be like so its your choice as a consumer. If nobody was buying anything ACL would have to think about changing the prices but, similar to ticket prices, they must think this pricing structure brings them the best return.

It's not like you're there for 8 hours, if it's too expensive go two hours without eating / drinking!

They only make 10% profit though. You decrease sales and you still have to pay for staff and facilities and everything else. I remember when I worked at the Odeon a similar thing happened. We were losing customers and losing money so head office raised the prices on food (cinemas make no money from tickets) so get the same money from less customers.

Anyway, try going to Amsterdam. I paid 8.50 for a pint there at one place.
